Insert SD card into the Mac or connect using an SD card reader
Open Disk Utility
Select the SD card, and select the 'Erase' option.
Choose the file format and rename the SD card if you want to.

Thank you! You might have just saved our trip. My wife's SD card says it's full, even when all the pictures have been "deleted". We're nowhere near a good store for it. Now we can take pictures w/o having to panic search for a new SD!
