Eeeey everyone 😗 Thank you for tuning in on my video and a huge thanks to Clip Studio Paint for sponsoring and making this video happen. Here's everything you need to know about posing 3D models in less than 20 minutes!

As digital artists we should never limit ourselves 💪 When we have awesome tools available to us, WE SHOULD USE THEM! So in this video, I'm teaching you everything you need to know about posing 3D models in CSP, so you can start creating your own pose references. I used to spend HOURS searching for or photographing the references I needed for an art idea, and now I can create it myself in less than 30 minutes.

My recommendation is that when you use 3D models to create poses, you should mix your process with learning how to break down the models into anatomical structures. It will help you so much later on. And if you combine your learning with some figure drawing and get a sense of weight, gesture, and line of action, you'll become a "master poser" in no time 👏

What Can’t this program do seriously?
I’ve seen clip studio paint:
*Animating (With tweening and frame by frame types of animation)
*Be used for single Artwork
*Let’s you pose 3D models
It’s a super flexible program that honestly I may consider using it

love how i spent like 2hrs messing around with these yesterday and not getting anything useful out of it (except for finding out what not to do) and today you upload a video that's pretty much gonna save my life when it comes to poses lmao thank you Nadia!!

Okay, to clarify for miss Nadia here. The "old" 3D pose models are actually not old. They are designed to be more realistically proportioned, whereas the "new" ones areset for more manga proportions and reference work.

Another thing I sometimes do, is to save a png of the model and then add gaussian blur! So, I won't get lost in the exact curves and details of the model (lines of the body, for example) and the drawing gets less stiff.

Maybe sounds odd, but only focusing on the silhouette and general shape is really helpful! c:

As someone who has been struggling with references, this video blew my mind multiple times

Also, one thing I want to add to your point about anatomy:

One thing I do is I use the CSP models and pose them in CSP, and I open Blender and load some super detailed anatomy ref models I bought on Artstation and I look back and forth to fill in the anatomical details and muscle groups on my sketch on CSP. This exercise helps a lot to understand and learn anatomy on-the-fly and boosts your visual library as you progress.

I wasn't even planning on using 3-D models, but your enthusiasm, fun accent and endlessly upbeat whistle soundtrack got me to watch the whole damn video. I might actually try this feature now!

I might have missed it when I scrubbed through this video, but it can't be emphasized enough:
3-D models are great, but if you can find a photo--better yet, if you can *screen cap* an HD video *frame* for your reference --do it! It will always be more organic, because it's real. The image wasn't someone's best educated guess of where what goes where, it's based on what physically is possible, because it happened in the frame. It's the difference between the artist's imagination based on nature versus just the artist's imagination. Remember: you can't draw what you don't understand and you can't understand something visually if you don't know what it *actually* looks like. Everything drawn is based on a reference, nothing comes from nowhere.
Anybody who tells you to draw exclusively from memory or from your imagination is wasting your time.

you inspire me to draw so much. i have a lot of art insecurities and i sometimes take long breaks because of it. but watching your videos is like your voice in my head telling me “hey, you got this! just pick up your device and get to it.” you motivate me so much. you make art look so fun and i REALLY hope to be as good as you one day, that’s my goal. ive been following your tips and they are really helping. i couldn’t thank you enough for your channel, you are the nicest youtuber i know. 😖

I know I use 3D models. I'm currently learning Blender so I can make sets and props. Stuff like vehicles and super sized weapons are easier for me to draw at different angles thanks to that. Thanks for this tutorial! It'll be added to my data banks when my brain decides to crap out like it often does lol

I just audibly shouted WHAAAT. You blew my mind with this. I have been absolutely stuck on so many art ideas just because I can't get the poses and anatomy right without a references and I spend hours just looking for photos or videos and then getting stuck if I slightly adjust it. This has helped me so much I can't thank you enough!!! You're a great teacher.

As a 3d modeler who want to learn more about drawing and painting this was really interesting, I heard that you can capture poses from photos too, if only we could export that posed models...thanks Nadia

I definitely needed this. When I first got Clip Studio Paint, I felt SO overwhelmed, that I closed it and never touched it. Now, I'm making myself learn it so I can try to make a webtoon. Thank you so much <3

I've been using the 3D model for over 5 months and realised it's power and potential. I do wish I had watched your video from the get-go because I've learned now how and why the hands react together and to get just get one hand to work independently of the other. body types was a source of confusion and plenty of other little settings and menus.
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. I have also subscribed to your channel. 👍
