Grease pencil is a perfect tool for mixing 2D and 3D together since you can do it seamlessly in 3D space. You can also use it in so many ways and in so many stages of the production it blows my mind. So good.

Tarzan (1999) has the best blend of 2D animated characters nad 3D backgrounds I've ever seen. Really nice video, thank you!

I just wanted to point out that in the introduction you have several clips from The Dragon Prince. But there is no 2D animation in that show. It's all done with Maya! The characters are modeled, rigged and animated in Maya. The textures are hand drawn using Photoshop, Substance Painter and Mari. And the rendering is done with katana. The entire show is created in Maya however, it's all 3D. The characters are rendered using 3Delight toon shader. I worked on the show

I personally love 2D animation and 3D animation equally. They can create amazing things separately and together. Both have their ups and downs.

We will always have bad 2D and 3D stuff like Berserk 16/17 (3D), The Emoji Movie (3D), Norm of the North (3D), The Queen’s Corgi (3D), Big Mouth (2D), Brickleberry (2D) and Paradise P.D. (2D).

However we will always have masterpieces from both like Spider-Verse (3D), Arcane (3D), How to Train Your Dragon (3D), The Incredibles (3D), The Lion King (2D), A Silent Voice (2D) and Spirited Away (2D).

In the end, i will always love animation in general. No matter what kind of art style 😊👍

yesss i've been wanting to do this! cool video, i rewatched arcane and i really want to do something like this! but yeah out of all the hybrid animations ive seen its arcane for me, second in line probably spiderman into the spiderverse and u got both and more in here! nice :]

Can you do a video of the animation process of how to make this kind of animation but in the style of the netflix animes: Dragon Prince, Revisions, Drifting Dragons and the film Belle 2021?
