Motorcycle Accident

First day I am back on the bike with a working GoPro (had technical difficulties again with it) and as I am heading home, a woman pulls out to U-turn in front of me. Tried to slow down and avoid hitting her when the back tire locked up (wasn't aware I applied the rear brake) and slid me sideways. Once I felt the tire slide, I knew I was going to hit. I'm ok...Sprained lower back, 2 sprained wrists, and scraped up knees. Other than that, I'm in tip-top shape. My gear and backpack saved me from more serious injuries. Wear your gear all the time!! Can't stress this enough! Once I am healed up and my bike is either repaired or replaced, I will be back on the road!

The fact that she blames you then leaves the scene of the accident really gets under my skin

Mike is clearly former/retired Fire/EMS, or some field related. What an awesome guy.

As a Firefighter in training this guy at the 8:00 mark did a fantastic job. He’s definitely either an active first responder or a former one. That is a good man right there.

I'm saying it this way because there's a lot of voices with the people not on camera. I'm really glad that young black fella was there. He seemed to be one of the few but very prominent voices of reason when this first happened. Stopped the rider and other people from moving him around and told that lady that you don't need permission to call 911. Strong work by that young man, we need more folks like that.

Everyone in this video except for that lady who ran was absolutely amazing, polite, understanding, knowledgeable enough to have him not move. That firefighter is an absolute legend of a guy! So polite and informative and just sat and chatted with him.
As for you riding the bike sir, I hope you got a new bike outta that and above all hope you're alright and make a speedy recovery.

Hey Buffalo, would it be OK to feature your clip in a moto edit soon? It would be credited in the description and comments sections. Thanks, MM

I'm so sorry that awful woman blamed you for the accident & then drove off! I'm very happy you weren't seriously hurt. Thank you for sharing your story, it's important for other bikers to see why a helmet & the appropriate clothing are essential for one's safety.

Leaving a scene of a crash where injury is involved is most likely a felony. After reading the comments, it appears this felon has not been caught and jailed yet. Its unfortunate, because this seems like a common occurrence for that lady.

I did try and get a plate number, but it appears that her plates are paper plates with really tiny numbers on it. Other identifiers I found was that it appears to be an exhaust hanger, hanging really low on the passenger rear side. Another identifier appears to show previous rear bumper damage. I paused right before contact and you can see damages, crinkled, and smashed bumper on the right and left sides. Another note is a double sided ball hitch.

this Mike is A++++. I want to shake his hand and buy him a week worth of beer. he's in complete control of situation, keeping you calm and aware to prevent you from getting in shock. I like how he's explaining and updating what's happening around you. he has excellent situation awareness. outstanding job he did. heal well!

Glad you’re ok. That lady knew exactly what she was getting into. That’s why she left. Please keep us updated on what happened.

Man gets into an accident, gets hurt, but still says "I love your hair". This man is amazing.
