Recently, detailing guru and efficiency expert Yvan Lacroix visited Hawk Pro Detailing for a 2-day Opti Coat Certification training. He showed us an amazing way to use Hyper Compound to go after deep scratches. What do you think???

Products used for paint correction/step by step:

(Foam power clean on paint, let dwell then rinse off with...)

(Use your Big Red Sponge and Optimum No Rinse to wash the vehicle)

(Spray ferrex either on paint/wheels or on your clay towel to decontaminate paint)

-----

*UPDATED POLISHING TOOLS/LIQUIDS I RECOMMEND IN 2021*

/Koch Chemie

AMAZING INTERIOR CLEANER:

-----

(Compounding Stage of paint correction)

(Polishing stage)

(In this case, I coated the truck. So I sprayed vehicle very liberally, twice, with Paint Prep, before Opti Coat Pro + coating application)

Apologies if you've already covered this but a great trick for working on learning how much pressure you are applying is to use a bathroom scale. Put the pad on the scale and press down and you'll quickly calibrate yourself on how much pressure you're applying with your polisher.

Brother, thank you for the killer content. I'm just getting into paint correction and have immersed myself in every video I can find. Your channel is terrific. I hope you'll keep at it!! You have a great way about you, and I hope your channel grows exponentially. Thanks again!

Great to learn the 5 5 5 trick. I'll need this for a door scratch I was worried about

I watched another video of a man who intentionally showed how much it took to burn paint. It took a comfortingly long time. It didn't happen at 5 or 10 seconds. I can't remember but I think it was 20 or 30 seconds. I remember that he said that if it is too hot to touch with your hand, stop. And if you smell anything, also stop. I say that because in high school we did a test for people to see how well they estimated a minute and some people went a lot longer. Count out loud and if you are in doubt, stop early.

What matters most in the end is the customer is happy! Will have to try that.

I actually *love* getting the camping/hunting/etc. outdoor clients and their trucks. Those big ugly long scratches most of them get from branches while trail driving are usually very light and come out fast, easy and safely with 3000/5000 grit and a quick polish..

Always makes for a really impressive transformation and very happy clients who all have buddies with the same trucks.. I get a *lot* of multi vehicle and referral jobs from those kind of clients.. 👍👌✌

Thank you for sharing as well as BigOldDog with his scale suggestion, I am not a painter or detailer etc just learning from people with hands on skills my profession is repairing tractors so i am outside my usual skill set looking to do some of my own cars and maybe some tractors Bonnets/Hoods. In preparation for my up coming task i purchased a Makita sander polisher, I used one many years ago when i was a boy in the early 80s. Looks like your device is more a orbital sander is there a particular product i should buy or is the sander polisher fine? No doubt the 5 pound would be different due to the surface area contact. Thank you all for sharing your skillsets

This is the man from Diy Detail that recommends using the Gold Standard Polish, I should look into that!

I have a couple of small scratches on my bonnet. When I detail the car in the Spring, I'll use this method as it makes a lot of sense to me, rather than removing clearcoat from the whole bonnet. Then just a quick whip over the whole thing with Angelwax Perfect polish on a finishing pad. Thank you.

Hey man I'm just starting to get into detailing just on my own vehicles, and im just wondering if that guy had any product on the pads he was using or just a spray on product? And was it the different pad or the spray on product that got rid of that marring, sorry for the rookie questions I'm just used to seeing people use more like "gel" based products if that makes sense

Were any of these close to level 2 scratches and did you run your fingernail over any of them to see if your nail caught on the scratch? Wondering because I am learning how to be better at paint correction.

The 5 5 5 works on soft and medium hardness clear coat. I try it all the time on a Mercedes or Audi with the diamond hard clear coat - no bueno...

Glad I saw this cause I wasn’t sure how to get out the deep ones. It worked very well

Thanks for the video. I liked the comparison with cross hatch at 3, then the 5-5-5 method.

I don’t know if anyone else sees it but I can see the round circle that the pad made at the end of the video. Will this be corrected by doing this method all over the car or is there another step of polishing that will correct it?

Are there any products out there that really really work to get out scratches that you can feel with your fingernails?
