Yogurt Feeding your dog plain, low-fat yogurt keeps the good bacteria in your dog's intestines in balance and helps keep yeast infections at bay. A little bit of yogurt in your pet's diet is not only a healthy treat, but can boost the immune system.

Epsom salt A bath of warm water and Epsom salt will work wonders.
Evening primrose oil, an essential oil,has active anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties. You can apply primrose oil directly to your dog's skin to treat dry or itchy skin issues. Likewise, giving your dog evening primrose oil by mouth helps calm allergies and boosts the immune system – and it only takes a few drops on her food or in her water to do the trick.
Eucalyptus Shampoo or Conditioner – Steep 1 teaspoon dried eucalyptus (or 2 tablespoons of fresh eucalyptus) in a pint of boiling water for 10 minutes, covered. Allow the eucalyptus water to cool to body temperature and pour it over your dog after her final rinse. Rub the mixture in and towel her dry without further rinsing. Alternative: Buy a an all natural eucalyptus shampoo and conditioner that's already mixed and ready to go. Hint- make sure that it's real eucalyptus essential oil, and not a fragrance.
Baking Soda- Prepare a thick paste by using a 50/50 mix of baking soda and water. Apply for 20 minutes.

Thanks so much for taking up your time to make this really informative video. Your dedication to helping others, such as me, is so very much appreciated. I feel guilty when Honey (my 8 year old pit bull) is sick and I cannot afford to take her to a vet. Fortunately, with people such as yourself, spending your time informing people like me of a few vet alternatives, I feel better in helping Honey when she needs my help. You are a benefit to all pet owners and I wish you much success in your life. God bless you!

My little shih zsu has 'frito feet' because the yeast is so severe. The vet said he's probably allergic to chicken as more dogs have chicken allergies than grain allergies. Changed his food to Natural Balance fish and sweet potato and saw a marked improvement. When he starts chewing and licking his paws, or I smell fritos, I'll try your remedies to keep his OCD under control. Great video, thanks!!

My 13 year old yellow lab. Has been itchy most of her life, but case solved finally. A lot of what Rocky says here helped her: brushing daily, adding fish oil to diet helped tremendously.
I hadn’t added vit E, started doing that. Great tips, thanks for this.

As a vet student I say double check your dog's basic medicals are up to date:
This means dewormers, heartworm, vaccines, flea and tick medication. Why? All of these things prevent most common causes of itches, especially deworming. Also before bringing your dog to the vet, take note of where your dog is itching, what it looks like, how often they itch and what they do when they itch. Are they rubbing on the carpet, are they scratching with their foot, are they licking, are they biting. These can all help us because sometimes discoloration of fur is caused by the itching and sometimes it's caused by the licking and saliva. When I talk about how often, sometimes dogs or cats can have allergic dermatitis and it can be linked to the season. My friend has a pittie who sheds almost all her hair during shedding season and she itches like mad, but as soon as the phase is over, she's all good. Also note that if the wound is hot to the touch, smells funny, or the skin has thickened, the wound has opened or there is a ring formation or anything odd that doesn't look like a normal itch, please please take your dog to the vet. This is so important to do at this point because that means that natural treatments may not help your dog and that it could be the sign of a serious infection that could be highly contagious and/or a life threatening illness that could be handled if managed early.

My dog had such bad itching that he was getting hot spots, scabbing and loosing fur in spots. He was miserable. I tried several remedies. Oatmeal, oils and daily brushing among them. Finally took him to the Vet and turned out he had a grain allergy. Once on the grain free food and treats his itching stopped. I also found a groomer that has micro bubble baths that clean all the way down into his skin. He has a double coat so this helps him a lot!

I've trained dogs for fifty years. The only reason I mention this, is just to prove you can teach a old dog new tricks!! So it doesn't mean you can't learn something. I enjoy the way you present your methods. Straight forward no bs. Any negative comments just because he makes it look simple it rarely is. Thanks for a couple new nuggets!

Rocky I swear darling you are an absolute saint. My fur baby and I have been dealing with yeast, now fortunately it has been moderate. Every video that I have ever watched this includes trips to the vet I have said to them the treatments you suggest our wonderful if you have a 5 lb calm dog or a bullmastiff. I have 100 lb 2 year old lab. The problem with yeast and baths is nothing is worse for a yeast infection then to soak a dog down have him go lay down wet and just get that yeast cooking. So any moisture added to yeast does nothing but multiply and spread the yeast. This is where you become a saint I've suggested over and over again when is somebody going to give me an idea for a dry shampoo as well as something that can be taken orally. It's much easier to have a lab eat something then it is to soak their feet. A foot soak in my house at best would last .3 seconds. I can't wait to try the dry shampoo along with the evening primrose and a combination with some of your other Amazing Ideas. I subscribed immediately as only a true dog lover would consider all situations as you have. I hope you get this as it's an older video but either way many thanks and much respect.

We have 2 westies that are suffering from yeast and bacterial skin infection. Vet has prescribed antibiotic for skin, I've made a quart of Apple cider vinegar rinse made from 1 tablespoon of cider to 1 quart of water. I use cotton balls to apply solution directly onto yeast areas and seems to be helping. You can also use it as a rinse after you've bathed your dog. Pour cider mix all over dog and let air dry. Do not towel off.
