Canned Corned beef is also a good option
The ones I get from Costco have over a 4 year shelf life

Aloha from Hawai'i! If you love SPAM, you would be embraced as an islander if you ever visit.

Spam makes a somewhat lower sodium version of spam. The turkey spam is also lower in sodium if don't mind it tasting like turkey.

The potted meat does work best on crackers or toast. The Vienna sausages aren't bad in chilli. Spam or the spam like meats can go in all kinds of things. I just bought a similar "ham" in a can but haven't tried it yet. Good reviews.

I haven't read through the comments, but I wanted to throw out a piece of meat processing information that I learned from my old coworker, who worked at Hormel. He asked if I knew what the difference was between a hotdog and a vienna sausage, and I had no idea. He said its the same meat, but the vienna sausages are cooked in chicken broth rather than water. I might get flamed for this, but from what I've seen online, it seems to be true. They're just mini hotdogs cooked in chicken broth.

Vienna’s don’t taste like they used to. But I’ll eat them. I haven’t tried the canned ham yet. I love sardines in mustard and smoked herring.

I like slicing Vienna sausages length wise and then fry them a bit till slight crust forms on the cut side, flip 'em over fry till lightly browned on other side. I also cut 'em in coins and fry 'em that way. Both methods make these little sausages taste really good. I do the same with Spam slices.

Anybody that was in the military from 1970 to the early "80s knows these meat by-products as C-rations. The box you never wanted to pick was the "Ham and Lima beans", which was spam with undercooked lima beans. The "Beans and franks "can have baked beans with sliced Vienna sausages in it. I got out in '82, and never had MREs. But they say they are worst. I do have a box full in of everything he reviewed, except the "potted meat", even the Army wouldn't feed us that, in case I have to "bug-out".. But as a rule, I don't eat that s**t. But my birthday breakfast it still "creamed beef on toast with over-easy eggs".

Dollar General usually has a good selection of canned meats, at reasonable prices, also. You can get a six-pack of the Vienna sausages for under $4 in my area. A six-pack of potted meat is even less. They also have the small canned hams and canned chicken at decent prices.

Canned ham makes a hardy navy bean soup

I love potted meat with a big dollop of Miracle Whip on white bread...thanks for the review but you should cleanse your palate between items with a sip of water to appreciate the different spices.

Love Vienna sausage, cold. The BBQ ones are great as well. They aren't the same as the ones I grew up eating . They no longer have the gelatin in the can like they used to, booo. Love Spam . Have had canned hams before and they don't taste like SPAM. They taste like ham luncheon meat.

Vienna sausages taste really great with baked beans if you slice each sausage into miniature hockey pucks and precook them in an “Air Fryer”

I like canned salmon, mackerel, high in protein. Salmon's a little pricey, but mackerel is fairly cheap.

I moved to Costa Rica. Who needs canned foods, fresh fish from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, free range chickens and grocery stores filled to capacity!

if you check the salt content of each can you would think its pure salt with some flavor

Vienna sausage are good with crackers, we used to eat them by the ton when out to sea in the navy. Luckily, they have a few varieties. But most any of these items will come in handy during hard time or in a crisis, eaten alone, or mixed in with rice will make a quick meal that will keep you going when there may be little else to choose from.
Well worth keeping some up on the shelf, because you never know when something may happen, and it has in the

That ham that you don't know where you got it probably came from Walgreens. I saw it there. The best and healthiest can meat is KeyStone. It contains only salt and water.. it taste great sold at Walmart n Meijer. The can is larger than most cans that contain meat. It is a little pricier but it's healthy and tasty almost as if you canned it in a canning pressure cooker. It looks weird when you open it and some have grease on it . You can leave it or take it out, prepare it and if you think it need more flavor you can add fat back or just some of it.
