CLIP DESCRIPTION:
A fight breaks out when Gary (Vince Vaughn) brings Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) three lemons instead of the twelve she requested.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
A once-loving Chicago couple whose happily-ever-after quickly turned into a never-again finds their crumbling romance complicated when both parties refuse to move out of the pair's recently purchased condo. The Break-Up is a romantic comedy that starts where all the others end. The future once looked promising for thirtysomething couple Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn), but lately it seems like a series of increasingly petty and intolerable squabbles have snuffed any semblance of romance in their relationship. Their confrontation endlessly fueled by mean-spirited suggestions of revenge tactics from friends and family and their stubborn refusal to budge resulting in an excruciating stalemate, Brooke and Gary ultimately decide to spitefully stick it out as hostile roommates until the weaker party eventually admits defeat. As the competition to drive one another out grows increasingly intense and outrageous, however, Brooke eventually comes to the realization that she's not fighting for possession of the condominium as much as she is fighting to salvage her relationship with the man she once viewed as the love of her life.

It's not that he didn't get the lemons, it's that he doesn't care. He doesn't care to get what she asks, when she gives up and asks him to help with the table he doesn't care to help, he wants her to go to games with him but doesn't care about going to what she wants, he doesn't even care enough to show up at the end when she invites him to something he likes.
He just doesn't care about her, so how could she stay with him.

Vince's character was a mediocre boyfriend, typically some one who tries very hard in the beginning of the relationship then stops trying because he got what he wanted and assumes the partner will stick around, and he's a bit lazy and indifferent to others

For all the people calling Jennifer Aniston’s character “crazy” and a “nag”: Gary was asked to get 12 lemons and only brought back 3. It’s only normal to go back and do a task properly if you get it wrong the first time. He doesn’t even acknowledge that he made a mistake. While I do think she could have gone out and bought them herself to begin with, he agreed to do it for her and did it wrong. This is on him, not her.

It's not about the centerpiece but the fact that he's unfocused and couldn't listen to simple instructions. If you're gunna do something, DO IT RIGHT or don't do it at all.

I don't think she nagged. She waited until he finished his rant and corrected him in the "Cistine Chapel" not the "Sixteenth Chapel". Gold.

As a woman, this scene terrifies me. She went to work, cleaned and cooked that day, while he just thought his work for that day was done by making money and had the audacity to "relax" after work while seeing her finish all the responsibilities and tasks they have together. I'm so affraid that I'll end up with a guy like this, since the woman's double role is very much still around.

Everybody is forgetting the dinner party at the beginning of the movie was for their family, they didn't know each other's families. So if they agree to do this TOGETHER he have to care about the damned lemons she ask for .
3 LEMONS IS a metaphor for the relationship. He didn't deliver, he didn't listen.
Gary's brother and Gary's best friend told him he was a egotistical men, very self-centered. He only does thing when it's at his convenience.

I remember watching this movie when I was a lot younger but couldn’t put it in words why I hated him so much. Now that I’m much older and more vocal, I can say that I sensed the amount of disrespect he has for her thoughts and opinions. How he felt her “trivial” tasks were unimportant to him, so he’s not willing to perform the task she had given him wholeheartedly. Even when making that dish was a big thing for her. He is being outright selfish. I wish nobody has to deal with a partner like that.

I mean he didn't even have to do the right thing, he just needed to acknowledge his mistake and at least apologize.

He’s incredibly evasive to helping her out—he just bullshits his way in and out of everything.

He's definitely in the wrong here. If anyone disagrees, you're clearly not in a relationship. And if you are, don't be selfish like Gary.

I had a boyfriend like this once. It didn’t work out. Then he tried to come running back to me, but it was too late. I refused to settle for less again.

Him telling her that she should finish the table herself so she could have "that personal power of that accomplishment" are the true words of a lazy bum

I once asked my husband to pick up white rice on the way home. He picked up brown instead. I asked why brown when I asked for white, and he said brown was healthier. I wordlessly opened up the pantry door where there was 3 bags of brown rice. I needed white rice for the recipe, which is why I specifically asked for it. I couldn't stay mad at him because his heart was in the right place, but it made me think of this scene.

For the people saying she was just nagging.. you’re honestly delusional..

The issue isn’t really MAN vs. WOMAN. The issue is one person being lazy, and the other doing everything by themself. Woman or man, if one person is doing 80% of the household chores and the other person does 20%, the person doing more work becomes resentful, and rightfully so. If you’re both working full time, but one person comes home and does nothing while the other person works AND grocery shops, cleans, cooks and does laundry, you get anger.

These 2 can not communicate no matter how hard they try . This movie is extremely underrated for performances put in by Vince and Jennifer. They are the entire film . Their deliveries in bantering back n forth are so realistic . The distinct differences in how a male and a female perceive and handle things in a relationship is so compelling . This film is brilliant . There’s prob a thousands of couples going through the same thing at this very moment .
