When I was younger, I wished Brooke gave him another chance. Now I'm 36 and I've been in her shoes. Sometimes you pour your whole heart into someone and they still don't "get it" until it's too late. Gary is saying all the right things, but I doubt he would follow through with his promises in the long term.

It took for his friend to set him straight. Even though she was so clear about her feelings. It’s way too late. It’s a shame. I’m glad she didn’t go back.

He finally got her flowers 😢

But he still says, “This has been really tough on ME. The first Sunday after ME and you broke up.” He’s still putting himself first.

“You left me, and it hit me you were really leaving, and then I felt bad when you cried, so now I made you a single meal.”

The way she said, “I don’t feel the same way” was sheer perfection. I just love this scene and I love that she stood up for herself here.

I gotta give the guy credit for trying but there's something about his delivery that doesn't come across as 100% genuine. He seems completely clueless. He spews all these words but he just doesn't get this relationship thing. Excellent acting from both of them.

I love how strong and decisive she is in this scene ❤

This speech reminds me of my ex. After they disrespect you to the core of your being and you get the self respect to leave, they apologize with a bunch of “I” centered examples. “I miss you. I want you to be in MY life. I can’t live without you. I will sacrifice doing things I like because I want you back in MY life.” Alignment and principle is what makes a good relationship. If someone isn’t naturally being who you want to be with, let them go. This is too real and too obnoxious.

Here's a classic example of being a day late and a dollar short. And I think the moral of this movie is if you're genuinely interested in trying to fix things with someone, and this applies to both men and women, don't play childish mind-games, but rather be sincere with what you say, and back it up through appropriate action.

I went through the exact same thing. Same dynamic. Years and years begging for him to see me and to show the bare minimum consistency and affection. Guess what? After I finally left, he blamed me for leaving and was too proud to try to get me back. You can never win with these people. They'll never learn. Leave and don't look back.

This movie, and especially this scene, is so accurate. They def had male and female writers. Men always realize way too late, and women give, give, and give, until they run out and have nothing left. Its so sad.

Though this scene is very painful, I think she made a right decision.
He didn’t know she still care about him so much after the breakup. He didn’t want to go to the ballet with her, because ballet is not his fav. But he wanted her to go everywhere he likes, never cares about whether she likes it or not.
When she was waiting for him at the concert, and about to cry cause he did not show up. I think she has made the decision to end with him. He destroyed his last chance with shallow thoughts

It's unfortunate how many great women fall in love with a dude's potential and suffer through the real dude hoping that one day they'll match the quality of love they pour onto them. Women, stop falling in love with the imaginary potential of a man.

Wow - begrudgingly offering to go to the ballet - what a hero.

"I don't have anything to Give"... That's when you've reached your limit and there's no going back! Those who just "Take" without Giving only realise when it's too late!!!

into "the trap"!😟

I used to watch this movie in the background as a kid. I never understood why these two adults couldn't just make up and live a happy life. After living through a serious relationship similar to this one, I get it now. I'm 24 going on 25 this month and I finally get it. You find yourself years into a relationship struggling to keep the butterflies and compromises once promised. Whenever people say marriage and relationships take work, they mean this! It's ensuring that your foundation from the beginning is sturdy and then keeping the house you built together standing strong.

This movie taught me to be more honest about how I feel AND stay respectful. I learned to say “I’m not a fan of this thing you love but I’m more than happy to get excited because I want to enjoy things WITH you.” And of course voicing the expectation that I want the same in return. I’m not entitled, but I do deserve them. He shouldn’t be forced to give them to me, but will always be appreciated when he does.
