Had a problem with the truck occasionally not starting well and consistently cutting out when it got up to 2800 rpm. Thought it was fuel pump or filter problem for sure, but bought a fuel pressure gauge and everything looked good...fuel pressure was good and the regulator was not leaking down. Started throwing parts at it (throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and MAP) until I saw this video. I had changed out the ignition control module about 3 years ago so didn't think that could be the problem...wrong! Thank you for leading me to the fix. Very good information and nicely done video...quick and to the point!

That is the ignition control module. Which uses the pulse between the stater below the rotor to determine correct injection timing it’s also the first place you go when there is no spark. injection system is commonly called spider injection, which were a real troublesome system. If you were to put fuel directly throttlebody, yes it would run injectors have nothing to do with raw fuel getting to the top of the piston through the intake valve.

Dang bro. I think this might be my ticket. I am in this exact scenario right now with my truck and I am going to look into this. Thank you so much.

So what am I supposed to do when I go straight there first? Change it completely or just Bang on it or take it apart and clean it or something, or.

I'm happy I found this vid, thanks for posting.
I made a mistake when viewing this post, which ended in me getting my 2000 5.7 escalade started.

After watching the video, I installed the wrong part ( switched out the Mass airflow sensor out of my 1998 2500 pickup and put it in the cadillac, and it started). I Will pick up a new Mass airflow sensor.
Not sure how to test these?

Hope this info and your video helps someone else out!

Those are the things only working on them will bring out. I learned years ago about Start run pick ups. Pulling a piece of paper between ignition points when no spark happens. This was a huge lesson you gave us.Share another one. 1964 Ford V8. Driving along and it would gradually slow down until it shut off. New fuel pump, carb and tune up. Still happened. It would slow to an idle for a while and then cut off. One day it happened with spouse with me. Told her keep your foot on the gas so it won't cut off. Jumped out pulled the air cleaner. What am I seeing here? ICE. Manifold crossover clogged.🦇

Had a no start condition on 1997 Chevy 5.7, check oil pressure sensor behind distributor. This is two switches in one, Chevy design it so that you must have oil pressure or it will shut off electrical fuel pump. Hope this helps

I got a 97 5.7 just chocked itself out one day driving checked spark checked fuel rail for fuel it was a little low so I changed the filter that was dirty and it had better pressure but still no start got it towed checked timing changed ecu cam position sensor and still nothing we figured out that we play with the ecm b fuse in and out and it will start I’m open to any and all suggestions we had a timing light and it’s in perfect timing didn’t skip a tooth or anything I’m younger and not as experienced but my brother in law worked mechanics for 15 years and he is puzzles looking for any advice in the rite direction.

I have a ‘95 gmc Jimmy 4x4. Drove to work, wont start now. Has spark at #1 cylinder, cant tell if its getting fuel as there is no shredder valve and it cranks fine. So even though it has spark you are saying it could be the ignition coil?

I have a 96 gmc suburban 2500 7.4L.. had it for 2 1/2 - 3 years no major issues well today randomly left me stranded at a gas station crank no start, a bit sputtery and took roughly 45 mins to an hour trying things to get it to start... idk if it's the same or similar issue but now I gotta track down this issue so it don't happen again, 1st time that truck ever left me stranded "almost" but it does have its "non intended" quarks and features and over 320, xxx+ miles so that's to be expected, just unsure cuz every once in a while it would start a lil rough but not often and would always start, unless batt. was dead, but that wasn't the case today, good batt. fuel and spark just didn't wanna start this time 😪 😫 lol
