I love the cold weather and hate the heat! I’m from Atlanta, GA and it’s miserably hot and humid here most of the year. 🥵

Lots of beer and whisky! Seriously though, the gray days suck, but when the sun does come out it is amazing. Also, when there is nice snow here in the Taunus, it makes going for hikes thst much nicer.

You got it. Snowy winter is best. Clean, bright and slippery. 🥶🌞

I enjoyed this. Hoping to visit Germany again some day. This was instructive as I have only visited in the summers. I am learning the language and really love hearing Deana speaking Deutsch. Watching her progress is really fun

I feel colder this winter than my other 3 winters and winter hasn’t even started yet!

I really miss Germany. I visited Germany, Denmark, and Austria from Sept-Oct in 2018 and I loved it. Yes it was getting a bit chilly and yes it was raining most of the time, but I didn't care. I felt like I belonged there. That trip will always hold a special place in my heart.

Soups, teas, hot beverages and since I have dogs, I learned my reusable beverage container doubles has a hand/pocket Warner. Hot baths, lots of candles and lamps to help stave off the lack of sun light. Have some soft classical music playing in the the back ground or acudió books playing seems to help me also.

If its really really cold it's good to wear thermals under your clothes. Layers are ideal because you can add or subtract as needed. I bought a really nice down coat from Uniqlo before moving to Germany a couple months ago and it has kept me really toasty warm and comfortable. I think it's important though to also have a nice warm hat (one that can cover your ears so those don't freeze) and gloves or you'll still feel miserable. Lol And the face masks we already have to wear anyway bc of covid are good for keeping your face warmer. I sleep with an electric blanket too (I'm from the southern part of the US and have been living in tropical island climates for the last like 8 years so anything below 80 degrees is already cold to me). 😅

Skiing did it for me. The Gluehwein helps. A broken leg drink can substitute. Hot apple cider and fortified with rum or whatever you like.

Some pluses about winter;

No mosquitoes, flies and bugs

You don’t have to worry much about gardening i.e. mowing the lawn.

You tend to sleep better (well I do anyway)

No sunburn

People are calmer compared to summer

Don’t see annoying neighbours as much as they tend to stay in more

Right now, where I live in the middle of Canada, it is -16 F. Tomorrow (it’s late at night right now), our high temperature is supposed to be-18 F. And we are getting about 8 hours of daylight. BUT, it is usually sunny here - not always of course. Merry Christmas!

What really lightens my mood is checking if it has snowed somewhere (in the lower mountain ranges) and just go there for a weekend. Actual snowy weather really lightens my mood. I love winter with snow. It's really just the rainy, grey, but still cool weather that can get to me.
