Pettis is a top writer on China and the global economy. I highly recommend his book _Avoiding the Fall_ .

I heard this every year since 2010. China invested heavily into Africa and Middle East and those are new growing markets for them....bigger markets than the existing.

2 months later. No sign of slowing down but gaining speed.

It could show slow down but will it? China does not expect its GDP to carry on at the previous high rate, that is unsustainable. Even if it maintains a similar rate to the main Western economies it will be enough.

2024 now and china has massive unemployment their economy is slowing, their housing industry is in tatters, many banks are in trouble and refusing to release money from peoples accounts, local governments are in financial difficulties, many public serevants have had their wages reduced, but being such a big economy it seems it will stagger along whilst it withers away slowly. Maybe they should have listened to Pettis the investors who are going to be burnt from the collapse of the housing industry.
