Welcome to my channel! 👋 In this video, I'm putting sunscreen to the test in a scientific experiment to verify SPF claims about their UV light blocking effectiveness. 🌞🔬

I'm a dermatologist passionate about skin health, and I wanted to dive deep into the world of SPF to see how well different sunscreens and even UPF clothing stack up against the sun's harmful UV rays. 🧴👕

In this experiment, we'll be testing a range of SPFs from 15 to 60, and I'll be sharing the surprising results with you. ☀️ Did they live up to their promises, or is there more to the story than meets the eye?

Join me as we explore the science behind sun protection, and together, we'll uncover the truth about SPF! 😎

Very insightful video Laura!!! I’m left wondering how much a regular cotton t shirt works as opposed to a uv shirt.

Since when do we slather on such large amounts of sunscreen to our faces?

I have a question if you could pls answer it would save me so much time and money and energy on trying sunscreens. The question is I’ve put top rated spf on always at least 50spf “ I practically go through a bottle a week!!! I notice I still get a tan even when wearing a hat!!! Im sure a lot of people don’t know the solar activity is in a cycle that is dangerously aggressive with solar flares threatening to knock out our energy grids. The sun as you know has cycles and the cycle it’s going through now is really aggressive so I really want to make sure I’m protected. I’ve stoped going to the beach and only go out at night or before 10am as I’m trying to keep my skin tan free. Pls help!!!!

Correction: her number is in uW/cm2, not mW/m2

I thought sunscreen was reacting chemically with the skin and had to dry before being efficient. Can you explain more about that and how that relates to your science experiment where there's no skin involved?

Did you use the same plastic wrap each time you changed sunscreen or did you clean in between the sunscreens?

Dear Laura
Should I reapply my sunscreen every 2 hours on a very cloudy day in spring ( after 5pm), even if I spend the most of my time on a train or at the office sitting a bit away from the glasses.? I use retinol adamantly 3 times a week so it peels off my skin a little bit depending on the amountof product I use.Naturally it thinners my skin and just because of that I worry about sun protection a lot.Could you end my paranoia and make a video about the reapplication through seasons and under different conditions such as indoors etc?? Please. Also does iscotrizinol really loose 10% of its SPF protection abilities only in 25 hours? Im really curious about it.

Thats not accurate plastic doesn’t absorb the sunscreen also the skin is more complex than a 2D surface
