him talking about saying "ugh I'm a fatso daddy needs to go work out" to his kids (in response to the Bluey episode) just took me back to the way my parents have been about their weights my entire life. It was incredibly damaging to me as a kid, and I'm sure they never realized because to them they were never talking TO me when they said these things... but it's obvious that children internalize the things we see and without discussing it, we just come up with our own understanding of the narrative. Oh, fat is bad. Being fat is lazy. And then you start to spiral. Yeah Ben... it's a bad message to give your kids.

The part about Bluey made me tear a bit because it is sooo true, when your parents talk badly about themselves it stays with you. I am on my 30s and still dealing with that (but it get's better, promise!!). I am glad that the authors of Bluey corrected that because, it's really important, so proud of them <3

people like that also really like calling absolutely anything gay related 'sexual, ' but when it comes to a very common thing in children's shows of the parents in those shows making subtle sex jokes in front of the main characters while their kids are watching they just think its 'oh so funny' and ignore it...

To be honest Ben Shapiro is talking about James Bond movies like he has never seen one entirely. I've watched every one of them with my dad, who is a fan, and that movies are definitely not only a male fantasy. There are some strong female characters in the series and the freaking boss of Bond is portrayed as a woman for a time period.

The whole setting an example for your kids thing is so true. My boyfriend lost around 100 pounds and that was great, _but_ he started to fixate on if he was working out enough or how many calories he was eating because he was afraid to gain the weight back. The reason this was a problem was was one of our younger sons - who was already seeing the doctor for being overweight - started mimicking his dad and could’ve developed an ED.
