Need a Takomo 101T vs TaylorMade P770 comparison

I have put the Tokomo 201’s in the bag, I just got them two weeks ago. I am 58 years old with a 3.4 handicap index. I ordered the irons in 2 degrees flat with the graphite regular shaft for $849.00 delivered to my house. This is a decision I do not regret. These clubs are the real deal, one of the biggest reasons for taking the risk was the review you did on the Hit Channel. THANKS for that Rick, well done. I went to the titleist t 300 about 4 years ago and I missed the ability to work the ball both ways, and flight it easily, I have that back now. Keep up the good work. If your viewers want an honest review form someone who is not a pro, you just got it

Funny thing is, I remember the last time I purchased a set of irons in 2008, you got 3 iron thru pw or 4 iron thru aw . Now these companies remove a club and charge you substantial more .

7:35 rick only shows 3 shaft options but if you click the customize your set option a little further down there are much more shaft options both graphite and steel, not a huge amount more but around 20 or so total shafts. In case anyone was curious about the lack of shaft options

You should do a review on the Maltby TS4 irons and the TS1 IM irons. They are both outstanding sets of irons for a fraction of the price

The ONLY reason I didn’t go takomo when I upgraded earlier this year was because I couldn’t get fitted for them. And it turned out the shaft options they have aren’t anywhere near what I was fitted (successfully) for.

I think all it would take is for them to open their own shop somewhere where people could come in and get fitted, pay for the fitting because it would still be worth it, and they’d get all the business in the world. I could f afford to risk the money on a set of clubs I’d not tried before. But with the opportunity to try them, I would’ve bought them in an instant

I wish you would have shown the shot dispersion. It seemed as though the Tacomo irons held tighter for you. Tacomo definitely has my eye. Keep up the great content Rick!

Just buy last season's stuff. I got a brand new set of Mizuno 221's, still in head wraps, 5-PW £490. Sold the P790's for £470.

Got the 101Ts in the bag two weeks ago and very happy with them for the price. First new set of irons I've purchased ever and the switch from old blades from 2000 to these has been amazing for my game, gave me exactly what i was looking for in a set or irons.

FYI most forgiving blade currently in our fitting stable is the Maltby TS4. They're unique and beautiful and "easy to hit" (!?).

Most clubs are so good these days that you're fine just picking what you like and what you can afford.

Please review the Mizuno Pro 245. They’ve got that blade look but are hollow body, and IMO the best looking irons out right now.

Love the content Rick you’re the man

I just got my set of 101 and I went to the range and I couldn't be more happier, they are so worth it, I had Calloway apex 21 set, after the first strike with the takomo PW that was a wrap, , super recommended

I was seriously looking at Takomo irons but went for a fitting today and after trying Ping i530's, Callaway Apex i200's, TM 990's and P7CB but ended up with P770 with a Dyamic Gold 115 S shaft. I really think you have to try before you buy and this is where they will call down. Maybe of they can get demo clubs out there they will smash it.

I just received my 101s and love them. I've only had a brief opportunity to fire off a few shots, but the feel is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to getting out on the course to see how accurate they are, they feel great so hopefully, more time in the short stuff; lower scores!

They’re official website have them at $489 USD which is insanely cheap considering they’re the latest model

Meanwhile you have the big dogs like Taylormade, Titelist, Callaway etc charging double/triple that for their new models, it’s awesome to see the initiative of solid irons for an affordable price and not trying to rip anyone off

That was some damn fine ball striking. I could never play blades but fun to watch videos like this.

If I needed to buy a new set of traditional irons right now I would narrow it down to Takomo or Maltby and would probably go with Maltby.

Since there isn't a ton of technology in players MB and CB irons, it offers a great entry point for brands with lower R&D budgets to make a comparable club for a lower price. Takomo's offerings remind me a lot of what KZG did back in the early 2000s in producing a MB with a larger footprint and a quality forging the appeals to a wider range of players. Frankly, you are getting the same tech in both irons so there isn't much reason not to get the Takomos if the aesthetics appeal to you.
