THE SIDE NOTE - This video was really interesting to make as Car & Driver and Consumer Reports really don't see eye-to-eye...at all...at least when it comes to Sub-Compact SUVs. As you saw in the video, sometimes they were relatively close in their videos but more often...overall...their lists reflect different versions of reality. Which list is "right" in your eyes? What would be your Top 5?

The main difference is reliability. When I look at vehicles I check Consumers Reports instead of Car & Driver. The fact that C&D has a VW in the first 5 spots says a lot.

One is beholden to advertisers, the other does not. CR actually buy every car they test in their facility. CR also don’t let car makers edit their review.

In my mind, if it isn't AWD, it isn't an SUV. I like sub-compacts but I live near the Sierras and they won't even let non-AWD's drive through the passes in shaky weather so they are non-starters for me.

Had one of these on rental in the USA, very impressed, everything as described here, 56mpg in 3, 900 miles driving
Very quiet and smooth.
Thinking of buying one now.

I was the proud owner of a 2015 Kia Forte coupe right up to the point that after owning it all of one year, it caught on fire on the side of the 101 freeway and burnt to the ground. And if your Kia or Hyundai hasn't yet caught fire, don't park it in your garage or carport because it still may and then it's going to take your house with it😂 10:09

I've commented on other videos by you. This is the latest? 2 months ago. You need to realize that the dealer location etc. is very important. Doesn't every car have problems that only the dealer can solve? In my experience, when we take our vehicle to a local repair shop, they often don't really know the vehicle and MUST refer to the manual. The dealer repairman may be familiar enough that he knows the repair by heart and will take less time to get your car back to you. It don't matter if a Toyota or Subaru is the best car if the dealer is 50 miles away. And who cares what CR says. All they are is recording responses from their subscribers. Not exactly a cross section of all drivers. I could say the same for the magazines. The NTSA is more reliable. So include their findings. I hope this is helpful

I agree with consumer report on picking the Subaru cross trek as their #1 pick. Thousands of Americans also agree because Subaru sells over 150 thousand of these tough little SUV’s. Now as far as car and driver we can always agree to disagree but it’s strange the Subaru doesn’t even make their list. What are they thinking? The Mazda is very cramped plus it’s not even fair to compare Mazda AWD with Subaru’s symmetrical AWD.

The 2 mags have completely different missions. A great driving car is going to he high on C&D's list. A great driving car that has massive reliability problems won't be on CR's. That said, this was an interesting and useful comparison, and thanks - would like to see more of this sort of thing...

Consumer Report results based on existing consumer statistics report & its more reliable & trusted

This report shows that NO agency can agree with another as they all are "experts" I have read a number of them reviewing the same cars and everyone has a different 1-10 list. My recommendation is to make your own decision based on how you relate to each particular vehicle when after sitting in and driving them. Does one of them work for you.

Taos, most underpowered car ever ....dangerous!

Cx 30 is much better thar CR mentioned. For, CR has no credibility. CR kept recommending Subaru even though the engines had head gasket problems. They did this for years. Not sure what there relationship with Subaru is? Subaru also has CVT and oil consumption problems. CR should stick to appliances 😂
