The BJP and its Tamil Nadu ally AIADMK find themselves warring again over a potshot lobbed at former CM Jayalalithaa by the former’s state chief K. Annamalai. This is just the latest episode in a 9-year series that has seen the BJP’s allies dwindle. Some have returned for cameos, but as many as 19 parties have either quit the NDA or been dumped by the BJP since 2014. In Ep 1034 of Cut The Clutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta discusses — through the lens of data — the complicated relationship between the BJP and its allies.

NDA-1 was 20 years ago. All NDA constituents enjoyed the feast of power together, but all had EARNED their place at the table. DYNASTIC SUCCESSION is the reason why MOST POLITICAL PARTIES are on the margins today. Do parties like SAD count for anything anymore? Modi's BJP cannot afford to carry DEADWEIGHTS nor can it give a free ride.

Why is Congress secular when they appease one community more than others - exactly what BJP does...?!! I'm confused... @theprint

SG- what’s the purpose of this CTC? Is it to show how evil BJP is?
For voters like me, it really doesn’t matter unless they are working for the nation development. The regional parties run the party as business, they want corruption money and don’t have national vision.

BJP doesn’t need regional allies. It’s good that regional parties with parochial vision are not able to keep National interest as hostage. The regional parties are a nothingburger.

India's mandate is clear - we need a POWERFUL LEADER to lead the country in this dirty global politics. That is none other than MODI. The captain of your team needs to be strong always.

Akali dal left the nda because of the farmers bill. Shiv sena despite winning half of the seats wanted the chief ministership which was ridiculous. Also it is natural for the BJP to want to grow. In Maharashtra Modi wave in 2014 the BJP saw a huge jump in seats and vote share

BJP in Indian politics is like Sun. Other parties are like clouds floating around sun. Sometimes blocking benefits Sun is giving to public. These clouds are moving growing, shriking, disappearing. But BJP is not at fault for these short lives of these clouds.

Shekhar ji has no idea on AP politics. TDP dumped BJP in 2019 not the other way around. Pavan Kalyan didn’t contested in 2014 he just supported the TDP-BJP alliance.

In my opinion regional parties are bad for india and development. National parties like bjp, congress or even aap are better for stable country

You could hardly blame BJP for this. SS, SAD and JD(U) walked away from NDA than asked to leave/forced to quit.
SS fought the last assembly along with BJP with seat sharing and they got majority. SS started claiming that BJP promised CM post to SS.
There was no public announcement before the election. SS is obviously power greedy and walked away.

SAD thought they would win brownie points by opposing farm laws and walked away. The less we talk about JD(U) the better, because JD(U) was with NDA, opposed Mr. Modi and fought alone to loose, then joined RJD, quit RJD, joined NDA and again quit and joined RJD.

Would really appreciate if Shankar Animesh were to do a follow up along with how many seats did each JDU and BJP contest for in each election that they fought together and how many seats did each win

Twist-In 24 bjp allies with Inc, forms the govt, congress wins, but raga does not, Modi is the pm, then bjp kills all Inc allies and the Inc itself then leaves it to its condition. Inc again becomes as weak as it was in 2019. Masterstroke😂

Guptaji, you got it all wrong!
Shiva Sena dumped BJP to form government with congress;
JDU Nitesh dumped BJP and joined hands with Lalu’s son!
SAD dumped BJP during farmers’ protest
TDP Chandrababu dumped BJP
It’s NOT the other way round like you are repeatedly saying!

Regional parties have no national interest and they have only family iterest. BJP suffered in the hands sof JDS in Karnataka, Uddhav in Maharashtra(back stabber) and there are many such instances. So better shed off the regionl allies.
In the case of ADMK, if they tag on with them now, they will never gain independant stature in Tamilnadu.
The ground reality is ADMK vote will eveentually shift to BJP if not now but in next elections for assembly.
Since anyway they do not have any MPs now and even if they win 2 or 3 seats 2024 going alone it makes a start.
