I'm sharing tips from my 40+ years of performing, touring.
There are lots of things to have in mind and the better you prepare, the less stressful will the performance be in the end.
The reason for these preparations, apart from wanting to play well and entertain the audience, is that there will (almost) never be a perfect tech-situation on a gig. Things can go wrong that are outside of your control, but you _can_ prepare for the most of the situations.
Prior to watching my Blue Monday Livestreams every Monday at 9pm CEST which is:
12pm PST / 2pm CST / 3pm EST / 8pm GMT (London) / 7am AEDT (Sidney), watch this video:
- I'm explaining here how to tune your guitar to Open G and Open D tunings
- Learn the basics of fingerpicking technique - alternate bass playing
- Learn the basics of slide technique
This video is very basic and I'll be uploading more detailed content about each of the techniques mentioned later on. The topics in this video are meant to prepare you for my livestreams where I'm using standard tuning, Open G, Open D, I'm playing slide and fingerpicking.
The whole idea of BLUE MONDAY Livestreams is to provide solid and professional live backup to your soloing, maybe just hanging with my rhythm, chord shapes and learning as we go.
I'll always be explaining what and how I played, there are several sections during the one hour livestream:
- Solid backup for your guitar playing
- Artist in focus
- Lick Of The Week (explained in detail)
- Special guests
- me performing a song or two - for your eyes only!
- Q&A
Blue Monday Livestreams:
Most of the guitars Homesick Mac is playing are made by the master luthier Michael Sandén:
