The government's chief adviser on climate change has told Sky News that the Prime Minister's plan to eliminate Britain's emissions will fail unless carbon dioxide cuts are dramatically stepped up.

Sky's Thomas Moore travels around the UK looking at how climate change is affecting the country, and what communities are doing about it.

CO2 is not a pollutant, it is not even the major greenhouse gas. We each exhale 2.3 tons of the stuff each year. The medieval warm period took place when CO2 levels were 280ppm, so CO2 levels have no causal link to global temperature. The cost of moving to renewables in the UK, would be equal to 25 years of our annual military budget, and to achieve something that isn't the causal factor. And we would be expected to go along with this without a vote, and our agreement would not be considered. Given that all improvements are said to be "too little and too late", then we can do nothing. Luckily CO2 is not a pollution. However, resource depletion, habitat and species reduction are major problems. But we can all do something about this. If we are going to take, then we need to give back. We need to live in balance with planet earth. Not only can we do this, but it is enjoyable doing it, too. Sleep well, this emergency will work out like all other predictions, and fail
