How China's Happy Accident Could Change the Future

According to research from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, China, the world’s largest emitter of CO2, might have reached peak emissions.

If so, the world would be in a better position to slow global warming, a key focus of the COP29 summit in Azerbaijan. It could also help offset the impact of nations less interested in reducing emissions, including the United States under a Trump administration

While China’s investment in green technologies has played a key part in reducing emissions, some worry that lower emissions are a side effect of an economic standoff that government stimulus packages are trying to reverse.

China: spends 20 years building green energy industry.
West media: China's happy accident.

Reading all the comments here, it’s clear Western propaganda isn’t convincing the people anymore. @Bloomberg, manipulate the facts better to make people believe you like before. 😂

One point that many media outlets have overlooked is that China has a population of 1.4 billion, which far exceeds that of other countries. If you calculate the per capita carbon emissions of all countries, you will find that China's per capita carbon emissions are not high, and this is a fair statistic.

Happy accident? 😂 I feel sorry for Americans ……

Instead of anti-china propaganda what we really should look at is emission per capita and that's where the US is on top.

I think one reason China is going for Electric Vehicles is because they don't want to be dependent on imported oil, which can be blockaded.

It is no accident that China is reaching its goals.

It seems a bit disingenuous to criticize China, when we, in the West, is nowhere near our emission goals. China's method of govern makes it much easier to make drastic changes. If they want a park of wind turbines, they will just set it up. No questions asked. If we want to set up even an offshore wind turbine in the West, some guy who lives 10 kilometres away will block the project for years because he complains that we are blocking his view of the ocean.

Bloomberg or any western media please can you also have Chinese commentators on. The miscommunication is highly opaque most of the time.
