For those asking about cheese, this is Scalloped Potatoes, thus no cheese.
If you add cheese to this dish, you end up with Potatoes Au-gratin.

This looks SO tasty! As always Sarah, I love your show.

I find that when I just dump the sliced potatoes into the dish, they can stick together which leads to uneven cooking and uneven sauce distribution. I think it's worth the extra time to layer them evenly and it's an added bonus that it looks so pretty at the end.

It's so refreshing to see a true scalloped potato recipes.  Too many claim to be scalloped potatoes but then have cheese in them.  If there is cheese then it's a gratin.  This recipe looks easier than mine.  I hope to try it soon.

My mother always use evaporated milk which gave it a creamy taste. Raising a family of 8 was hard to keep milk around for drinking. It surly looks delicious .

Wonderful recepie I dis not have any cream so I mixed cream soup with milk and added chedder cheese also added left over chicken that I diced and added onions dinner s served thank you so much

After uncovering it, could you also add some cheese to the top for the final bake, or would that be 'gilding the lily' a bit too much?
