I've been chancing my arm with some very old, unrefurbished electronics which are crucial to drive my STE and STFM.

It's time to bite the bullet and address the elephant in the room: I need a new power supply.

Did my military service with an Atari ST guy. We met up at his place one weekend and he showed me stuff from the ST scene. I was blown away. The Atari ST demo scene was very similar to the c64 scene, were everyone was doing these weird video chip bugs. Meanwhile the Amiga scene was boring old protracker music, bouncing balls and copper lists. This must've been back in 1992 I think.

Coming from the Commodore world, I think it's kind of cool and wierd that you plug your ST directly to the mains. :)

Thanks for the detailed video. I need to bring an STe back to life and went with Exxos... I'll need to do all of this in a few weeks.

I have an exxos PSU for my childhood STE; interestingly I've never had the reset circuit issue! Feel like I should get one for my falcon too; it's on a recapped original but probably getting something over-engineered is good for it's longevity.

The heating element also last longer if you cool the blower down

So this reset issue is that computer is trying to boot before PSU is ready and you must delay this process slightly? Or I get it wrong?

Then, why not recap the MB completely with new good quality caps if the originals are so old and bad?

You talk about the old powerboard being unsafe. Isn't that only if you have the case off and the computer plugged into the mains?

Galvanic isolation from mains?
This PSU is for weaklings.
You should work up a natural resistance to 240VAC!
XD
