Have you ever tested to see how hot the water gets with just the pilot light on?
I have a 40 Gal Rheem Propane WH here in South Florida. The cold water out of the tap is 85 F reaching 90-95 on a sunny day (which is hot enough to take a shower without turning on the hot water). Just experimenting with how low I can set the water temp in the WH, I left the temp dial on PILOT so the burner never lights up. I get a consistent hot water temp of 120 F of which I have to add some cold water when showering. The propane consumption is down greatly.
Do you think there is any problem with this other than the Gas Company mad because of my reduced usage?
