How to stop an attacking dog assault from biting a victim - AKBAN Self defense Bite release

Since this is not a blood choke, but an airway choke it will take more then two minutes of complete pressure to make the dog unconscious.
That is a lot of time and long before it the dog will stop it's behavior recognizing you as the alpha and the pack leader.

Shmulik, the guy who is explaining the technique is one of the most decorated dog trainers in Israel, with years of experience with working, police and guard dogs.
I would say that your suggestions about grabbing the legs, kicking, running away etc. does not work and the baseball bat, gun or grenades if you have ones, might hurt the victim too.
This technique is the one dog trainers, all over the world use. Learn it.
Take care

We uploaded this self defense technique to our martial arts YouTube channel even if it's a bit outside our channel focus. We think it's necessary - we could not find another video on the net that shows this basic stuff.

The dog on the video is a trained dog, it's doing great.
Do not try this technique without the supervision of a certified instructor.

In AKBAN we train the way we like, completely absorbing ourselves in technique while fearlessly researching. We don't care about politics, political values, belt systems or Mc-dojos -- what matters to us is dojo time, heart and earth, that's it: One principle, two words: "No shortcuts"

This is good advice, however, the title of the video is misleading. This video does not show how to stop an attacking dog from biting someone. It shows how to remove a dog that has already latched onto a victim.

0:55 if a person is getting attacked by a dog why the hell would I care about not hurting the dog?

Good to know. I remember when my old German Shepherd was not well and had difficulty walking, an Akita attacked him and knocked him to the ground biting him. It must have been my adrenaline, but I grabbed the Akita by it's collar and lifted it off the ground. I don't know to this day how I found the strength to lift such a big dog but I knew my old boy couldn't fight back. My arms hurt for days after. I must have pulled a muscle. But it's amazing where you get the strength from when needed. If I had seen this video before the attack I would have used this technique. sadly my old boy's passed away now, but he protected me all his life it was the least I could do for him when his body had failed him. That's him in my picture.

This shows such good common sense. Even my veterinary friend had never thought of controlling an attacking dog in this way. Thank you for taking the time to share this.

I watched this about a year ago, and today, did it when a small dog was being attacked. Thanks

This is a great method. It saved my dog about 30 years ago. We were doing an agility demo at a charity fund-raiser. A large dog from the audience came and attacked my dog. It picked up my dog by the face (including his eye socket) and started shaking him. The police were there and offered to shoot the attacking dog. Instead, a female friend did the technique you described and the dog released mine. When dogs attack, especially pit bulls, people should never hit or kick the attacker--this makes pit bulls grip harder. I have seen hundreds of videos of pit bulls hit by shovels, bricks and logs, and they never stop the attack. People should instead use this technique.

This is the first useful video I've seen on the subject. Thanks.

My grandmother got attacked by her neighbor's American Pitbull. The dog had to be euthanized because of aggressive behavior for no reason out of nowhere, but luckily my grandmother survived and only suffered minor/intermediate injuries. Thanks to this technique, it helped! <3 +AKBAN

This is really awesome information. I wish someone would do a series of clips about stuff like this, sort of an "urban safety/advanced first aid" thing.

If a dog is attacking someone I'm going to hurt it, I don't give a shit about its life.

Hi Shmulik, I'd like to thank you for uploading this technique. I was badly injured by my ex partners fathers dog, a Pit Bull. This dog was as friendly as you could want a dog to be and several times I was so relaxed and confident in this dog that I'd have children petting him and so on. Any how after years of having a poster dog for 'not all pit bulls are savages', the dog turned on my ex's dad for no apparent reason and I came across a scene of carnage. I jumped on the dog and tried to hold it still as it was doin most of the damage by flailing its body around. He managed to get free by being able to contort the dogs body as my weight was sitting on it. When he got free I was left with the dog alone for a few mins while he got help. during this time the dog turned on me and severely injured my arm which will never be same again. Sadly we had to kill the dog there and then [method too graphic to write here]. My point is I wish I saw your video beforehand and had a better idea of what to do. Maybe killing the dog wouldn't have been nescassary.  Thanks for the tips!!!

THIS DOG IS SAFE. (tl;dr)
I understand the concern that people have that this is hurting the dog, however there are many things to be aware of. Firstly, the dogs tail is wagging pretty much non stop, its hackles are not raised and it is not snarling. The dog is clearly showing signs of comfort and control with the situation. Next, the cost of licensing, owning, and training an attack dog are astronomical, and the time taken to train one extends into the years, no person in their right mind would attempt to hurt something they put so much time and effort into. It is quite clear that the dog is highly trained and used for demonstrations, it probably has a better life than many pet dogs across America. (Source, RSPCA volunteer, have handled similar dogs before)

Very effective video. Much more effective than other videos where the instructor asks the audience to IMAGINE the dog attack, then provides instruction.

Prior to pulling the dog away, make sure the person in the dog's mouth is not a crook or thug.

Thank you for the helpful hints! I had to use this technique after watching your video to save a person from greater harm then already she had and worked exactly how you shown, ! I didn't know the dog or the person but after I removed the dog she calmed down and I was able to keep the dog from trying to hurt me!! Once I did the dog actually respected me and listened to me even tho her owner couldn't get her under control!! If it was up to me I would have kept her but the owner wouldn't allow me t

EXCELLENT demonstration! This is the BEST method I've seen on the internet of how to get a biting dog to unlock its jaws on a victim. Most other videos are stupid and ineffective, but THIS one is SUPERB!!! Thanks for posting!

I had to use this technique last week and it worked perfectly to separate a husky from a French bulldog

This video is very helpful. Thank you for posting. I'll know what to do now if this scenario comes to pass in my own life. Again I thank you.
