I loved your long-haired AG and the fact that you got her as a head and torso! I just got my first one this summer, and I think I got a good deal, but she was fairly expensive. I wish I were more confident in restoring less-than-perfect dolls, as you are. I look for the best I feel I can afford at the time, and then try to clean them and dress them to hide flaws.
I appreciate you sharing your experience in restoration efforts and your soothing voice!

Wow - I remember when # 1 & #2 PT Barbies cost $1500 - $2, 500 - this was back around 2006 - 2010. Actually that's too long ago - the inflation in this country has hit everything. Now it's every once in a blue moon I get a low price on vintage Barbie stuff. For example - very recently I got a never played with platinum swirl PT in original top knot for $296.00 on ebay. She still has the ice pink lip paint! Her hair appears to still be the very light platinum color. I haven't received this doll yet - but she's from a very reputable long time Barbie seller on ebay. Her only flaw is some green ear only on one side which I'll be to mostly get rid of. The seller had "Best Offer" & she accepted my first offer. I was in shock!

I wish I could be as focused in collecting as you are. I love it all, and I collect it all. The bulk of my collection is actually late 70s/early 80s SuperStar era dolls, fashions and playsets. I do have a sizable number of Vintage, Mod and Malibu-era dolls, though, and I collect 80s, 90s and 21st Century dolls as well. Oh, and I also collect "competitor" dolls like Darci, Jem, Tuesday Taylor, etc.

Of the dolls you showed, I think my favorite is the untouched #3. I've never owned a blonde #3 in all my years of collecting, so she stands out to me. I also really like the Little Theater fashions, I only have Barbie Arabian Nights. They were never a collecting priority for me, but I've always had an appreciation for them and for the travel costumes of 1964. Also honorable mention to the Swirl in Black Magic, she restored beautifully. I've also discovered the hard way that Swirls (and Fashion Queens) don't respond well to green ear treatment. I sometimes simply don't treat dolls for green ear, and just live with the green. I have a Bubblecut with beautiful vinyl tone and mint face paint, and she has some fairly significant green ear, but I know that if I try to treat the green, it might compromise her vinyl tone or her face paint, and it's just not worth the tradeoff to me. And I have a couple of Swirls with fairly significant green ear, and I just try to display them so it's not as obvious.

Lovely collection❣️

I’m fairly new to collecting vintage Barbies, with my cutoff date at (maybe) 1975 because I love the Malibus.

Recently, I’ve also begun buying a couple of Ponytails and Bubble Cuts that need a little TLC (no green ear). I learned from watching your channel with what and how to retouch the lips (now the eyes).

Thanks for sharing that tip❣️❣️

I love your channel because it takes me back to my childhood, when I played with some of the dolls you feature. As a child I was fascinated by the clothing, the immaculately-sewn miniature garments with all the details perfect, and the working buttons and zippers. I credit my love for fashion and design from playing with my dolls; as an adult I decided on a career in fashion I'm sure as a result. One question about green ear--has anyone tried to cover it up with matching skin-tone paint? It seems to me that might be a reasonably satisfying solution and better than potentially ruining a precious doll. Just wondering.

As a kid in the nineties, i was turned off by Barbie’s original form. Not only did she look very unfriendly, but all of the vintage dolls that i had seen at that point had green ears. ..
Which i equated to mold. 😆

My # 4 brunette PT smells like crayons which I think is rare because I've heard that only #1, #2 & #3 PTs smell like crayons. She must have some of the #3 left over mixture for the vinyl molds mixed in.

Green ear removal success depends a lot on how the doll was treated/cleaned by the original owner. I'm debating on doing an experiment on a doll that was originally, like yours, treated with Barkeepers friend that wasn't completely successful. I'm still not sure if I'm willing to risk any kind of unprecedented reaction. Anyone out there had experience with trying combinations of cleaners on these dolls?
