The "don't shoot stuff that won't hit anything" is a point I've been wondering about. The video I've seen showed a lot of stuff getting shot down, but a bunch more getting thought which matches that, as well as a saturated defense situation. That kinda raises a few questions:
1 How well can the IDF can predict impacts?
2 How good are their maps?
3 What fraction of an air base is "open desert"

I'm guessing that with an area strike weapon, you're going to need a lot to cripple an airbase with halfway decent damage control.

I've seen that one video where maybe 15 missiles actually hit something and everyone says "o wow! What a fail from israel!" ... that's like 3.75% hit rate. That's a 95%+ interception rate

What are the odds that this strike was just "fire and fury" from Iran, a way to be sen by their allies in the region as 'avenging' the losses experienced by team yellow, without causing enough damage to justify a direct, joint Israeli and USA response.
