Savannah monitors get between 2.5 and 3.5 feet long, most don’t get to 5 feet. Their diet consists of MAINLY insects. This lady doesn’t need to be educating anyone. He is so overweight it’s ridiculous!

As a reptile rescue owner and the personal owner of a wonderful savannah monitor Alberto I am very upset by this monitors condition....

"A chicken a day" that’s something for a Komodo dragon, but not for a savannah monitor!

This lady has no clue what this monitor is, this is a Savannah monitor the animal that this lady is referring to is a black throat monitor also known as the rock monitor. They get 6 to 7 ft if your gonna be on a show and find this animal a home know what you have and do your research and if you have no clue ask someone who does

They're cold blooded.
They won't eat a chicken a day.

Maybe, once a week or 10 days but not every day!

Dude who feeds a two year old a chicken a day. Dude they eat once a week after they’re adults maybe twice that’s why he looks like he’s sad and over weight

Yeah, your monitor looks like you're giving him a chicken every day! You should stop that.

You do realize that Savannah monitors are primarily insectivorous

A chicken a day...not quite doctor. He should only be feeding once a week as a full grown adult...also 110 to 130 degree basking spots..not 80 to 90. Jesus. This was horrifying to watch.

She called Savannah’s “rock monitors”. Rock monitors are the group of monitors native to Australia the includes species like ackie monitors, Kimberly rock monitors, and lace monitors. What she should have said was they are also called bosc monitors

This lady is off her rocker.
It doesn’t need a room, it’s not a carnivore and feeding it chickens whole is horrible for their digestion!
They are omnivores but in the wild are primarily insectivores.
I’ve owned 5 of them

I’ll adopt him. I used to have Savanna Monitor. He was 17 years old. Great animal as pet.

There’s very few locales in Africa that actually reach 5feet and likely the ones in the pet trade are not going to get that big. Rock monitors are NOT the same as Savannah monitors and they’re largely insectivores... no one listen to this lady and someone rescue that poor monitor quick!

Interviewer lady doesn't even listen she had to repeat herself twice to say how large they get

He needs a nutritionist and a personal trainer. He is young and has a chance. I hope he finds a home where his owners have a clue to get him on track. Chicken wings and rodents? The equivalent of a human living on nothing but big macs.

He is definitely not 2, and if he ate a chicken a day he would be dead.

He is so overweight its sad. No wonder he got that big if they are feeding him a chicken every day. I feed my monitor a diet of dubias, hardboiled eggs, chicken gizzards. Savs get about 2.5-3.5 feet that monitor needs to be fed once maybe twice a week depending on cage size, excercise and range of diet. Lady needs to educate herself first.
