The Non-Canon Expert explains how Thrawn, who was then only an Imperial Captain, reacted when informed that the Death Star had been destroyed in the Battle of Yavin, and describes why Emperor Palpatine thought this reaction made Thrawn a rising star in the Imperial Navy.

Everyone is always curious about Vader's reaction when he learns the name of the rebel pilot that destroyed the death Star but I wonder about sidious's when he first heard the name Luke Skywalker

Impressive how Thrawn doesn't flinch in front of the Emperor or Vader, he just carries on like a boss. By the way speaking of destiny I still wonder his ultimate fate, since the God Emperor said he survived Rebels. I still hope he'll be able to reunite with Eli, in order to know more about the reason why the latter was sent to the Chiss in the first place.

I find it funny that as soon as the emperor sees an imperial who don't give a shit how he feels and lacks fear, it's a 50/50 chance Sidious would be enraged or honored. For Thrawn, he was ecstatic
