I think it depends on your relationship! I took my man skydiving for our 6 year anniversary and paid for a professional photographer to jump with him so we captured all the pics and video. Yes it was expensive but a memory to last a lifetime and he does the same for me! Like Adrienne said we like to give each other memories and experiences as gifts. I’m thankful for anything as long as it’s sentimental or thought out for that person. Doesn’t matter the $ amount! But there’s nothing wrong spending a little extra for a vacation or something dope. This year we’re going to Hawaii !!! 🙌🏽

I think this should be more equal, if you want to receive an expensive gift then expect to give an expensive gift yourself. Women can’t just demand that their boyfriends spend a lot of money on them without them doing the same.

.. I would _never_ expect somebody to spend $250 on me. Maybe it's because I grew up constantly worried about my family's financial situation, but it would make me feel too guilty. I prefer gifts that show that the gift giver paid attention to little details about me and things I've said in passing, or show that they accept me for who I am as a person. For example, probably the most meaningful gift I've ever received was a picture book called "Be a Friend" by Salina Yoon. I was started to develop ideas for children's books to write at the time I found out about that book--as well as going through a difficult time on a more personal level--and talked about it maybe once or twice to a friend while we were talking about the importance of stories. Half a year later, she gave it to me for my birthday, and whenever I see it on my shelves, I am reminded of how lucky I am to have a friend like her and of how supportive we have been of each other. This book cost... maybe $20? And I know I'll always treasure it.
