We still have very little knowledge of what either did between the end of Clone Wars Season 7 and their individual appearances in Rebels. I want them to have at least had SOMETHING even if it was super awkward. They've escaped death together, on the run from the Empire, and a lot of history together. All it would take is a little spark and for jedi and clone programming to go out the window.

I think this is quite possible...they have written in some small pointers that rex think she is more special than others...he keeps his eyes on her sometimes, e.g. after they have landed outside the citadell and she jumps up on a plateau and runs ahead...he watches her then. Or, he is the first to catch her when she passes out from the blue shadow virus.

Now I’m no good at this what if story but here’s a idea what if Rex and Asoka had kids and that was the real reason he was not originally there in the Star Wars rebels. With Rex actually in love with Asoka before the missions to Mandalore which was how he was able to fight the order 66 long enough to give her the clue to find the chip
