One group of Canadians are already defacto American citizens. All First Nations people and Inuit may live and work in the USA as if they were citizens, a consequence of the Jay Treaty of 1795. The United States could unilaterally extend this right to all Canadian citizens without annexing any part of the country. Any Canadian who wanted to be an American could just move here any time they want and stay as long as they want without filling out immigration papers, like First Nations and Inuit people already can.

As a Canadian, i think Canada and the US will merge before the century is out, probably not anytime soon though. NAFTA was the beginning of the integration.

This does not take into account that the 2030 Census is currently projected to net the GOP 12 seats/EV’s while costing the Dems 12, for a swing of 24.

It would be the state of Moose. But seriously this wouldn't work unless the Canadians supported it and they wouldn't. But it is a strange way that could happen. Here is my more realistic scenario. Quebec decides to pull out of Canada when Trudeau is still able to hold onto power. There is a massive fight when Trudeau tries to get the military to crush Quebec. Liberals rise and try to fight with Trudeau but all they do is cause chaos. Canada collapses and begs for help. After a narrow vote, any part of Canada that has an eight-percent majority vote to join is allowed into the Union. Overwhelmingly, the Canadians vote for order over chaos. Note: This is still an alternate reality, but that is the only path I see.

The only realistic way i can kinda see this happening is that some provinces leave Canada and join Anerica.

It may be unrealistic that Canada votes to join the US, but the Republicans cant deny the Canadians, thatd be unconstitutional. We are bound by law to accept Canada once they want to join us.

Edit: I am fine with being wrong sometimes I was misinformed. We have Article XI of the Article of Confederation which would allow Canadas entry within the United States at any point their territories want to join. But we are not bound by law to take them.

Canada has a lot of natural resources, like lumber, oil, coal, and lithium deposits, in addition to almost half of the world’s fresh water.

Some of the rural and forgotten Canadian states would willingy join if things in Canada keep getting worse

I don't think that Quebec might want to remain a US territory since they basically won't have the same representation and rights as a US state would. Instead, I think it might become a state just like the other 9 former Canadian provinces after the hypothetical US annexation of Canada. Same goes for the 3 northern Canadian territories, which I think they might be merged into 1 big US state.
