Actually it’s the other way around. The track is chaotic in MKDD and MK8, but DS toned it down a lot.

Honestly, Mario Kart Wii has 3 of my favorite tracks ever. Koopa Cape, Maple Treeway & Rainbow Road(Wii version obviously)
