The last ""game update"" stream where they talked about the 100$ box for 30 minutes and only answered 3 questions about the actual game really tells us what their priority is.

What strikes me more and more: I started playing in the 90s. At that time, games were regarded as art. The developers saw themselves as artists and the game was in the foreground. Today, profit maximization is the priority. A lot of development goes into getting maximum profit out of the game rather than making it a work of art. Today they only talk about art, but basically it's just a facade.

Regarding trading, the only reason Blizzard cares about botting or thrid party trading is because they don't make any money from it. They don't care about the rest.

I cannot trust blizzard anymore after Diablo immortal. I'm waiting to see the game monetization on launch before I buy

I love that the gaming industry has reached a point where it feels like the player base needs to constantly be on alert and calling out BS or otherwise the companies will immediately ram D in the A... and sometimes they do it anyways. Waiting for a Blizzard product has gone from "is it gonna be good?" to "will they screw it up?" to "how will they screw it up?". I have consciously steered clear of all the D4 hype and speculation, but the more I hear about the game, the more it sounds like absolute cancer me.

It seems like their whole goal is to squeeze as much money out of the fanbase as possible without scaring away to many people.

The worst of it is that it's made by Activision.

The sanctity of this series has been fouled

I'm waiting at least six months before I jump in. Diablo Immortal has made waaaay too much money for me to believe anything the team says about D4's future. Activision could just bring in a separate "monetization" team at any point to change up the game.

restricted trading is my biggest turn off atm, not even sure about buying the game at this point. will wait for reviews from my friends after 3-4 weeks after release to consider if it worth buying or not
that boss fights you showed us looks like d3 lol

Diablo 4 looks a lot more like Diablo 3 than Diablo 2. That's a huge problem.

One of the best endgame systems is the loot hunt and collecting the super rare items. The grail is great and takes years to complete. The incredibly rare runes and runewords are part of that experience. This is what D2 got right along with balance and making most areas of game important.
D3 made the endgame GR dependent and paragon grind. This endgame gets to be pointless after a while and tiresome. The rarest things are the wings from the rainbow goblin portal. They do nothing for gameplay.
D4 so far has FOMO, Battle passes for cosmetics and lots of open world areas to explore with dungeons and big bosses at the end. What are we really working towards with the game? Cosmetic collection gets old quickly. The game will be very short-lived if this is the emphasis. Bosses are great, but please no memorizing mechanics like Lost Ark. FOMO is too MMO and gets old if you feel obligated to login everyday. Grinding dungeons is cool, but after you finish them and get the codex reward, there is little reason to do them again. The paragon board sounds ok, and we'll have to see where it takes the game.
Is there going to be a system like the super rare loot hunt? Is there going to be something to work towards? Killing mobs and bosses isn't the endgame. Finding rare stuff that they drop is the endgame.

I think the reason they made early access is to split groups of people instead of having just 1 large group(and ofc money)

I hate that gaming companies are trying to shift everything to digital. Like ps5's without a disc drive. That makes it way too easy to cut out other vendors and charge absurd amounts for games new and old

Wait, if they call it a Collector's Edition, then it HAS to include a copy of the game otherwise it cannot be an edition of a game as it doesn't include it. Would have to be named something like a "Collector's Package for Diablo IV" to point out it's an addition, not edition.
Oh well, Blizzard really enjoying all the Activision scammy tactics it seems.

Well, for me, as an *offline singleplayer gamer, * I mainly hate the *"open world light MMORPG"* direction for this game as well as the *"always online"* feature compared to older Diablo games (primarily D1 and D2) and those two reasons are the main "dealbreakers" for me when it comes to buying/playing this game. Other things that I don't like (but also not necessarily "hate") are the "Paragon board" and some other "D3-ish" features that are returning in D4. Overall, even though I think D4 is looking way more promising than D3, I think I'm gonna *pass* on D4 and just end-up watching a full playthrough/stream of the game mainly for *story purposes* and that's about it sadly.

The cash grab is very strong in this one. Imagine paying $100 for D4 while POE2 is free lmao

Worried about bosses just being bigger pinatas instead of having mechanics that are engaging etc too

I’ll remain skeptical until the game is released and probably quite some time beyond that. Blizzard has shown us what they’re willing to do with monetization and I fully expect them to fuck up D4. If not at release, later down the line.

Mainly the no trading is bothering me.. The itemization seems lazy and simple. I used to be the biggest diablo fanboy but since I started playing POE I do realize that a great itemization in a game makes it so much more replayable.
