When I was with my aunt's cat gang, I was more concerned about my leg bumping into that young and frail girl cat, I jokingly nicknamed "Cosette". She can be clingy during these underfoot times, which is odd given how she otherwise shy away from bold contact.

My cat jumps my ankles when his dish is empty or lower than he wants. He will actually hang onto my ankle to keep me from the walking out of the kitchen. It usually happens just outside the kitchen entryway. He’s trying to herd me back to the kitchen.

If you have more than one cat and they’re trying to gang-herd you, you’ll notice that your cats never bump into each other. I don’t know if they give off mini-cues (I’m turning left! I’m stopping in front of you!) that we can’t detect or their reflexes are better. My cat is a master of the head fake, she’ll act like she’s going one way and then turn the other just as I decide to take the same path. Cats, what’re ya gonna do?

I lived in a dark apartment 15 years ago. My cat Stormy is black. She would dash in front of me and I tripped over her.
I learned from her why they said, "Don't let a black cat cross your path."
In the dark you can't see them!

In the last few months my cat has started to run ahead of me, flop down and do a big stretch so I can rub her belly. I'm trying to get her to do the belly-rub thing when I invite her up on an ottoman, which she enjoys, but she still does the run and flop thing. It can be dangerous for both of us if she does trip me so I'm trying to be hyper-vigilant whenever walking around the house. I do get a kick out of it, though!

My old cat Tom toward the end was always underfoot. He almost tripped me a couple times. He just wanted to be by me. Often when they get into stampede mode they've come close. You have to learn how to dodge cats in a full on run. Little stinkers:)

My cat makes a u-turn right in front of me just about all day long - it's like he's saying "Hey, I am the boss here and you are NOT listening to me enough". It gets pretty frustrating and I find myself yelling at him and that seems to make him worse.
