We own a 2017 BMW X5. We love it! Haven’t had any problems. The ride is fantastic

How about doing an owners review after 2 or 3 years of ownership and 80, 000 miles? Don’t see too many of those reviews!

Comparing it to a Range Rover that only last 3 years is mental

I've had my X5 for a staggering 12 years. Apart from better GPS it's difficult to justify an upgrade. With 212000 kms it is still a great "car" to drive. (4.4 petrol )

It's funny how every British motor journalist compares every SUV to that Indian car, the Range Rover.

British bias towards a range rover is overly excessive. Having conducted test-drives across both, let's break this down in summary:
1. Performance: The BMW has greater horsepower/torque per kg, resulting in a more nimble feel. The Range tries to compensate by an overly boosted steering servo.
2. Reliability: The jury is out on this one, as you'd assume the new BMW has learnt from the mistakes of the previous version, whereas the new Ranges are exactly that - new Ranges.
3. Cost: Both are difficult to negotiate, however the BMW does offer greater warranty and service packs at a lower cost. However, cost can not be a primary concern here with SUVs as after all - who truly needs a SUV living in the city. One thing to bear in mind is that run flat tires on a BMW can be expensive (shop around online).
4. Handling: Do the round about test... Oh common.. you know, where you take the dealer car around the bend and say "oh, I didn't know it had this much power". Drive it "like a rental" down the straight and hit a round about with the breaks progressively pressed. The BMW in the dry is king. In the wet, you'll benefit from a more balanced feel. However, the Range in fairness - didn't have much body roll either. It simply didn't engage you into the bend and gives a more conservative feel of safety.
5. Down the straight: The BMW can be driven faster then the range, whilst instilling a false sense of security. This is the real benefit of this car.

Great channel but the BMW has a potential safety issue that BMW will deny all knowledge. Local dealer with years of BMW experience have told be that all X5's suffer from extreme inner and outer tyre wear. I had to replace my rear tyres when they were on 4 to 5mm except for the extreme inner edges. One side down to the canvas. Cost me £700. BMW UK deny all knowledge of the problem. All X5's do this even the latest model so I'm told. This is to warn you that if you are going to transport your children around keep an eye on those inner edges...it could cause a rapid deflation..luckily they are run flats.

A-little harsh ? .... You're probably the only motor journalist ( Out of the 15 or so videos I've watched ) thats dissed the X5, what do you know that the others obviously don't ?

The more options you load a BMW up with... the more electrical problems you’ll have. The only manufacturer I’ve ever owned that you can take in for an oil change and pick it up an entire week later. Never again would I buy one!

cool video. this BMW looks a lot like what it was 10 years ago.

As a Bmw owner myself, i have to say that style think Bmw is resting on its laurels a bit too much in the exterior design of the x5.

As the gentleman said, it pretty much looks a lot like the X5 of 10 years ago, and that's not good!

Volvo, Mercedes, Range Rover and a few others make SUV's that look better and are about the same price or cheaper for the $!

Help please. Used approved BMW X5 (of some spec or other. can't decide) or used approved Volvo XC60 (again spec undecided). We want comfortable, quiet, good fuel economy and good drive without being brash or sloppy. I've heard many reports of BMW being a better driving car and Volvos being vague but as yet have no personal experience upon which to base a preference. I'm going to test drive them next week sometime, so please can anyone help with the decision making? Thanks.

Why do they get such a bad reputation if they're so good? I've wanted to buy one for years but I've read a whole heap of horror stories about things that can/do fail on them and the truck loads of $$ they cost to repair!
