India's population is set to overtake that of China by the middle of this year and will become the world's most populous nation.
That's according to a report released on Wednesday, by the United Nations Population Fund.
Figures predict that by mid-2023, India’s population will be around 1 billion-429 million-people --roughly three million more than China.
But the exact date that India will take the lead is unknown due to uncertainty in data from both countries.
Since record keeping began China has had the world's highest population since at least 1950.
The global population by mid-2023 is set to reach 8-point-zero-four-five-billion.
