As Polish I can say for me is normal behaviour any other way is just peasant attitude and that I really appreciate in Ireland that people are polite

I'm a kiwi and have always found Irish people to be very polite and friendly ❤

I drive a School bus, double decker 90 capacity. When the term starts I always say hello and bye/see ya/ cheerio ( whatever they use) August-Oct 20% response. Christmas 60% My target by summer is 100% And almost always get them. They become friends I wear them down 😂 100% agree about thanking people. I'll be saying Thank you to the staff in the Fisherman's Glengad ( up near Malin Head) 10 days and counting...

Being an Aussie Ancestry, I never felt more at hoe in another country than in Ireland. The manners I was instilled with growing up are in abundance in Ireland.

Wow, a warning on comments? Whats wrong the world. In Australia it is considered rude to not thank amybody rhat does anyhting for you, whether they are being paid or not. Manners and courtesy seem to be a thing of the past. I am 42 and theres a big difference between those older than me (Gen X+) and the younger

In America, saying thank you to the bus driver is like clapping when a plane lands

In England, it's pretty normal too, certainly in buses and I should have thought it would apply to very many in restaurants.

Talk about interesting cultural differences. I never would have considered not saying thank you for certain daily things like getting off the bus could be considered rude.

Isn't that just being normal? Everywhere?

Australia was like this in the past, not so sure now with the massive influx of unwanted immigration watering down our culture.
