Apple Without Steve Jobs

Apple was cofounded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. But it was Jobs who eventually served as the company’s CEO and led the creation of Apple’s biggest hit products. Including the Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. And if you know a little bit of Apple history, you’ll remember Jobs was actually forced out of Apple back in 1985 when the board of directors deemed him unfit to occupy any major role at the company. And it was at that point when things started to take a turn for the worst. In the following twelve years, Apple would burn through three different CEOs, none of which had the leadership required to restore profitability to Apple. That is, until Steve Jobs returned to the company in 1997. At which point he refocused Apple’s efforts into making a few great products, rather than dozens of mediocre products, one of which was the infamous iMac in 1998 which single handedly brought Apple back from the brink of bankruptcy, and returned the company to profitability.

Steve Jobs wasn't a Marketing Connoisseur, he was a Technology Philosopher.

it's simple. Steve Jobs: Success through innovation | Tim Cook: Success through money.

I remember how excited people were when they released the iPhone, the 3G, the 3Gs and the 4. I remember the moment when I opened a new box of iPhone 4 was so magical and unbelievable I thought I was uncovering a piece of technology from the far future. I am not saying the 4s and the rest are bad in any way, just that I don't see the 'magic' from unboxing those.

It's like seeing a girl getting undressed for the first time in your life and seeing a slightly better looking girl undressing for the hundredth time.

Steve hated companies like IBM. Now Apple has become like IBM. That's the harsh truth.

The reason this video is possible because we miss Steve Jobs and now Apple kinda lost it's magic! :(

Steve Jobs was a great man! Legends never leave our hearts.

EDIT: After reading some of the comments, I did some further research. Steve Jobs wasn’t the greatest human being, but at least he was a great CEO I guess.

Video is pretty ridiculous to be honest. Your points only really cover social posturing/PR/marketing achievements. Though "environmentalism" and "charitable" contributions doesn't really cover the functions of a business nor the innovations a company like apple depends on to advance in a technology landscape which apple always had uphill battle.

Apple has made an aggressive stance on maximizing profits. But the whole boat is now on sailing on air, its product line has ballooned, they have expanded with ridiculous "super-luxurious" variants. They have pivoted from a technology company to a "designer"/"fashion" brand.

Look at the whole train wreck that is the iPhone XR/XS(excess), go from 7 to X and now has passed into XR and XS. All worth 3 times the value of their nearest competitor. Then you have to also look at its whole Chinese production situation where people were committing suicide because of Apples production quotas. You also have to examine the apparent loss in production quality that has occurred, phones bending, batteries exploding, etc. The privacy position is another marketing/PR move to differentiate itself from other big tech firms. Arguing that the elevated cost is due to their position on privacy and their position on the environment, while in reality they created a situation where they sell you less-than-pristine materials and call it environmentalism.

Steve Jobs made a company that "Thinks Different", a company that challenges what is standard and made bold attempts to innovate through a delicate collaboration of software and technologies.
Tim Cook is keeping a company that "Thinks Social", a brand that builds upon its foundations while not leaping forward only adding more flash than substance, in order to justify rising prices and a diminishing market.

In 2018, Apple will stop declaring iPhone sales numbers, instead just posting earnings. That tells you right there they plan on making their money on leeching money from consumers in perpetuity.
Don't believe me? Well then just go back to listening to your Apple Music subscription, or look at your photos with iCloud, or maybe get ready for your upcoming iTunes Live streaming service, and don't forget to protect your products with AppleCare...

They started the trend of gluing in batteries, which other companies eventually followed. They don`t sell you any spare parts. You either use third party spare parts, which often are inferior or go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and let them do the repair. They overcharge you for the repair and make you clear, that you`re better off just buying a new model. Recently, the Canadian CBC did a piece on that with hidden cameras.
Recycled Aluminum in the 2018 Mac Mini and MacBook Air? They give money to charity and have two robots, that can recycle your old iPhones? Most of them end up in Africa anyway, where African kids “recycle” them, while breathing in the toxic fumes. They even run on 100% renewable energy and their products get a gold rating for being highly recyclable? That`s called PR.
The newest MacBooks have the SSD soldered onto the mainboard. So, if you`re out of warranty and your SSD breaks, you can throw away the whole computer and buy a new one. If your mainboard breaks, you lose all your data that hasn`t been backed up. Once it was possible to take those proprietary SSD chips out, buy an adapter from a third party and you could get all your data back. Until 2012, they even had normal 2.5-inch Hard Drives in there. Many companies, that do video and photo editing abandon Apple, because Apple abandoned the Mac Pro line. They offer no computers, that can be upgraded anymore. Wanna do video editing with OSX, go buy an iMac Pro for 5000USD and up. They can`t be upgraded, you can`t even easily open them up and dust the fans out, as they are glued together. The company I work for, started building themselves normal PCs, which are configured with the hardware we want. After a couple of years every component can be upgraded. If something breaks, we simply replace the defective component. We use Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere etc.). They are the same for OSX and Windows 10. So, no need for any employee to spend time relearning everything. We saved a lot of money by doing so.

In the Steve Jobs era, I used Apple products because I loved them and felt much more emotionally tied to the company. In this Tim Cook era, I use them because I’m tied to the ecosystem and can’t afford to leave it. SJ era was a positive loyalty. TC era changed that to a negative loyalty.

The most memorable Apple product was probably the iPad. Every kid had to have one. The good old iOS 6 days were the best. Jailbreaks were easy. iOS was ahead of its time then. The nice wallpapers that weren’t taken away. Does anyone still have the iPad with iOS 6 installed?

The difference is Steve cared about the product and nothing else, it's that simple. Tim only cares about success, less willing to take risk and is more focused on earnings than innovation and making great products.

You have to admit Apple's efforts towards environment are praise worthy. And I think they don't get enough credit for that. Coming from an Android User.

What about Jobs making sure Apple's products were consumer friendly? Doing their best to cram as many features and useful options in as they could, compared to Cook with the current state of Apple doing everything they can to remove the headphone jack from everything.
