Can I install a touchscreen deadbolt?!?!

Elegant looks, a simple interface, and easy installation and programming. I wanted a keyless entry solution, but not a smart lock. Defiant’s Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt is exactly what I wanted, including the rectangular form-factor to match my other door hardware.

The keypad that mounts on the exterior of the door feels very solid and has a full-length rubber gasket to keep the elements out.

It looks fantastic! This is perfect minimalist design while still retaining the key hole. It’s beautiful on both sides. I have it on the south side of my house, so I may give it a little shade cover to keep the sun from making it hot. The finish is very high end.

Programming is easy once I realized I needed to enter the master code before the # symbol. Now it’s a breeze to add or delete a code, and they included a handy programming guide inside the battery cover. Several cool features are built in—single use codes are great to have, and many user codes can be programmed so our house sitter can have her own chosen code. Codes can be deleted as well. The beep can be turned off! That’s also very cool.

Installation is a true one-tool event. A Phillips screwdriver is all that is needed to replace your deadbolt. I included a video of the installation from start to finish.
