Million Year Ice Core Project Lead Scientist Dr Joel Pedro says scientists are seeking to drill down three kilometres into the Antarctic core.

“It will be many years actually of drilling,” Dr Pedro told Sky News Australia.

“This season, we just sampled the very top of the ice, giving us the first taste of the chemistry of that site.”

And what will you discover from this, That the earths climate has been changing for the last million years, Oh so its not just recently that the Earths Climate has been changing, No according to our million year core its always changing, Well who would of thought such a thing...🤡🤡🤡

Valuable, inexpensive research?, not!!! Have you written the abstract yet Dr?

Regardless of how much Co2 content they might actually find, they will claim it was way less than current atmospheric content...For the Narrative.

This is the beginning of a horror sci-fi movie.

There appears to have been a lot of contamination handling the ice cores in this video; from touching with the gloves, cutting with the saw; wrapping in the plastic, which included a lot of touching with gloves again. This cannot be serious research.

All about climate change. Hopefully they will see it has always changed.

Oil companies have been drilling much deeper than that for years in the arctic.

It would take them years upon years if they were actually using that littl3 hand operated drill...
What asinine Propaganda.

Sounds like a good plan to ruin something.

If we drill all the way through at what point will we be actually drilling upwards towards the surface?

Can we tag along too? It sounds so cool.

Waste of money. Better build housing for homeless people who live here and now.

Ice not melting fast enough for them? Climate agenda not going as planned? 😂

How far is the Australian base from the US base? You'll find that it's much further than most can imagine. You cannot travel from the Australian base to the US base across the ice. Cook sailed 60, 000 miles along the Antarctic coast and found no inlet. That's two and a half times around the Globe.

The climate models are bad so hopefully some honest science will improve them

The whole purpose of the one million year ice core is to study the change in ice age cycles. From sea floor cores, it was found that iceage cycles were 45, 000 to 50, 000 years and changed to longer cycles of about 100, 000 year cycles in recent periods on the timeline about 500, 000 years ago. The only benefit of ice core data is that you may get trapped atmospheric gas bubbles, giving an indication of the composition at that time. However, the deeper you go, the less the sensitivity of data as the pressures and energy from the earth's depths can alter the nature of the deep ice. This modification of the ice at depth may make it harder to accurately determine the data produced. If the ice at depth has partially melted, then refrozen at sometimes data could be lost through those natural processes acting on the ice at depth periodically. The glaciologists have been wanting a 1million year old icecore in reasonable condition and is a bit of a scientific holy grail. We can only wait and see if the condition of the ice core recovered is of good condition to yield reliable data.Russian glaciologists found that periodic melting and refrezing of ice naturally on the surface and at depth can remove CO2 from ice cores and give a false lead as to past CO2 levels. One has to be very guarded as to the interpretation of data yielded from the ice core.
