I just made a 100 km contact yesterday from home.

I was using 50 watts FM to talk to an aeronautical mobile station 100 km away.

I have that antenna, but I wanted a single magnet mag mount. Purchased what they recommended and the antenna won’t screw all the way down into the mag mount!

Why use a magmount when you have a roof rack. I used to have a thick steel plate on my roof rack and used braid to earth all points of contact to the car. I could have a full size firestick and also had a very thick alloy pole that could pin into the upright position to add a mast. We used to plonk the Avanti Sigma IV on the roof of the car for parkups.

I owe you an apology Simon. Yesterday, when I heard your POTA activation, there was another frequency in use near yours. When I heard your CQ, the other in use frequency bled through. I blasted your radio right in the middle of your livestream. I didn't hear you say QRL because the band was in and out so I blathered on/. My

How did you route the coax inside from the magnet mount ?

I guess the only way for my indoor antenna is to go connect via Allstar.

A magnet is ultimate? Drill a hole and hide your wires properly.
