Cato Institute Latin America Policy Analyst Daniel Raisbeck breaks down how Argentinian President Javier Milei is strengthening the country’s economy.

Since assuming office in December, President Milei has managed to reduce the monthly inflation rate from 25.5 per cent in December to 13.2 per cent in February.

The libertarian economist is promising to slash 70,000 government positions in the coming months.

Mr Raisbeck explained how the President promised to “slash inflation” by shutting down the central bank and dollarising the Argentine peso.

“He has taken numerous measures to reign in the state which was completely out of control, especially in terms of spending and monetising the debt which caused the inflation in the first place,” he said.

Please don't compare Milei with Trump. They only things they have in common is that they are opposed to leftists and have dodgy hairstyles.
But Milei is far more intelligent, coherent and educated, and dealing with a far more difficult situation.

Calling Milei "the Donald Trump of Argentina" is severely underestimating Milei. Look up any interview where he talks about economics, the man is a bonafide intellectual.

there is no comparison between Mieli and Trump. Melie is very well educated on Austrian economics and have a clear governance platform.

You cant implement dolarization before you fix the underlying problems of the economy, and introduce political reforms first. He said even during the campaign taht dolarization wold take time.

Thomas Sowell has said for decades that if we want to flourish economically then we need to reduce government taxation and spending, it has worked every time throughout history. In the long run you collect more taxes but as a smaller portion of productivity.

Так в середине 90-х там уже был отличник по выполнению программы МВФ и всё наладилось, Карлоса Менема нахвалить не могли, а дальше большой финансовый кризис. Теперь новая попытка?
