They just posted a 489 million budget surplus. That was AFTER their loan payment. Now hopefully they will pay down their debt and eliminate their interest burden. Eventually they will get back to fixing their infrastructure without all the Corrupt dealings they have had in the past.

Javier Milei is an economist first, politician second. Great personality and passion to fix problems now. God bless him and his administration

May the force be with you, Milei, and Argentina. You have so much potential. Unleash it and become the beacon of prosperity and growth in Latin America.

I am from Argentina. Ever since I have conciusness, my father has always adviced me to save in US dollars. Any sensible argentine does that. I only use pesos to buy groceries and pay taxes-utilities. As a matter of fact I have 20.000 US dollars I am bringing from abroad this week, to buy a pick up truck. The current owner (it is used pickup truck), don´t want any pesos. Argentina must be the easiest country to dollarize in the entire universe, except for any land or territory owned by the us government in this planet!

Milei is not just working for a "dollarisation" of the argentinian economy. He wants to open the currency market obliterating legal tender law, so anyone will be free to choose his currency. So, as argentinians use US dollars for savings, a big part of the market will choose dollars.

It has only been a few weeks, steve. Let him do things at his own pace, he has way more information about our situation than you do.

Thank you for your words sir. In Argentina we are in a war....the cultural battle will be long but good will prevail

As I Argentinean my humble opinion is that he must first fight corruption and big spending government to balance the budget. Also there is a culture war against many years of socialist ideas of government being the solution to every problem.

He’s not going to dollarize he’s gonna give Argentinians the freedom to choose their own currency and Argentina has historically loved to save with the US dollar

Change is painful but often necessary. Argentina has tried everything else so far with disasterous results. Give your new President's plans a fighting chance. He warned it would be tough in the beginning. His honesty alone is worthy of trust

One of the many roadblocks to dollarization facing Milei, as explained to me recently, seems to be as follows: Until now, Argentine government made money off currency transactions forced at artificial foreign currency rates set by government. Furthermore, previous administrations borrowed against the future revenue stream of such future foreign exchanges (ie they mortgaged future revenues)’. On top of that, Argentine banks were forced to carry this debt and would go under if unpaid. This in turn could create a crisis in Argentina similar to the 2008 Lehman Brothers crisis in the US. ….or worse. Milei must find a solution to this ticking time bomb before he can dollarize the economy. I would guess some of the reforms he is pushing are meant to prepare the way to address this problem. If any of you have a better understanding, please explain.
