The HMSRM series Synchronous Reluctance (SR) motors driven by variable speed inverters have been recently introduced in the Industrial market. They are capable to achieve very high efficiency level and to gain the maximum efficiency class (IE4) of IEC 60034-30 standard.
The characteristics of such design are:
1）The rotor is cageless;
2）The resulting SR motor is brushless and magnet-free;
3）Only the rotor design changes in relation to an IEC standard motor and therefore it can be derived from standard Induction
Machines, simply by removing rotor bars and introducing saliency to the rotor.
The inherent advantages of HMSRM motor technology are:
1. Rotor synchronicity, granting a more accurate speed control (no rotor slip);
2. Cage-less rotor means no rotor conductors for:
a. Increased robustness;
b. Lower maintenance/cost;
c. Thermal improvements;
3. Higher efficiency, up to 94%;

5. Lower rotor inertia means faster torque dynamics.
