I don’t think it is really a good selling point that they reduced the weight of a low to mid static unit when they already don’t weigh very much. It makes me think they are using cheaper thinner metal. But I could be wrong.

Our 2014 Panasonic ducted system installed in 2015 has been used intermittently in summer only which equates to around 3 - 4yrs usage total.

This unit has been repaired 5 times in that period mostly from loss of gas due to incorrect copper pipe flanging and a faulty regas connector valve leaking.

At $160/kg and a capacity of 3.5kg, having it regassed 3x in the first 5 yrs has been expensive enough - not a product failure but more an installation error- but now the main outdoor pcb control board has died for no apparent reason, no black marks or swollen components, it just died probably due to onboard component failure.

The cost of a replacement board? Try $1380.00 !! This is outrageous in the extreme especially considering it is obviously NOT a quality board.
Needless to say we will never recommend or buy Panasonic products again in our lifetime, the quality just isn’t there with this brand anymore.
Panasonic have recently returned some domestic AC production to Japan from China but its too late for us sitting here in sweltering heat and 85% humidity with no AC yet again, we seriously regret the day we chose Panasonic and handed over our $12000.00 for their GARBAGE.
