Maybe similarly to spells, the more specified the glyph is the more accurate of an effect it will have. For example, the 'glyph' in the window of the library shows a shooting star which could indicate to its specific activation, whereas if Luz were to learn plant base glyph then it may be more simplistic at the beginning, producing random plants, and then further developing in the series to specify the glyph to a tree or a flower.

You do realise that if that window is a glyph there is a. Obvious specific spell that glyph could explain, Hooty. The house itself is literally alive.

Also I have a theory on the reason old magic was forgotten and has stopped being taught. My theory is that after witches evolved their bile sacs the coven system came into play most likely to limit how strong people could be. Then they would seal the magic of a witch so they could only use the magic of their coven this sealing targeting their sac of magic bile. However glyph's don't require the magic bile and in turn likely could not be sealed because the magic came from the island not the witch. Now it is not as if old magic had been completely forgotten I imagine the emperor had something to do with that, he might use glyph's or maybe he just never had his magic sealed to begin with. I am also betting that those in the emperor's coven are unable to disobey him likely a caveat of keeping all forms of magic, The reason I believe this is because in adventures in body swapping when we saw lLlith attempt to brand Eda and what point would there be if they weren't sealing magic, obviously it is the control over Eda the only witch on the boiling isles who has all forms of magic and is not under his direct control.

How is nobody realizing the fact that Luz can draw a perfect circle.

6:09 If Luz's light spell was only seen through a camera, there's a chance that most spells have these kinds of hidden glyphs seen through mirrors or cameras. This could be why it looks so simple, we might be only seeing part of the glyph.

How come now one is talking about the REAL hidden glyph- *HOOTY*

There's another glyph in "Covention". When the three members of the Emperor's Coven cast their fire, water and lightning spells a glyph is formed when they intersect and explode.

Is hootie a glyph? I mean he is circle and we did see eda cast a spell which summon hootie like things in the witch battle.

What if we've already seen The Owl House glyph working? In hooty's moving hassle we see that the moonlight is used, but we don't get to see how, maybe it went through the window activating the glyph just like in the library and that glyph makes things come to live or something like that, after all, Ida said that animating a whole house requires a powerful magic.

Already in the episode in which she learns the light glyph, you can see her practicing casting that glyph over and over on small pieces of paper. It is quite feasible that she discovered that "mistakes" caused the glyph to have a variable light effect and started experimenting

At 6:44 I’d like to clarify something. Though in other parts of the world I know that it’s first the day then the month when writing the date down, here in the United States it’s the reverse making it an entry from the 4th of July instead(making more sense with the summer timeline of the series)

The owl houses stained glass window glyph animates Hooty. Energy source unknown. Sun? Moon? Both?

in "I was a teenage abomination" when principal Bump activates the "security system" of the school, when he casts the spell circle over the wall, it extends through it like some kind of circuit. That might be a way of glyph.
Also in "The first day", the door Viney draws on the blackboard, that could be some kind of glyph too.

look at the library's stained glass window. it's a SHOOTING STAR. and what the whaling star is in the show ? a SHOOTING STAR ! the glyph maybe DID tell how to activate it. the owl house's glyph may be related to the wall drawing but not in the way you think. maybe there is a specific owl with glowing eye(s) that mayyyyhbe give people curses or... something like that
