My case was: My mom taught me how to view everyone in a optimistic way, with their pros and cons it carries over like being overconfident which usually ended being just people taking advantage of my good person. And my dad taught me how to be suspicious and not dumb to comit the same mistake twice. Love and discipline.

It's always cool to hear this as a single mom.. to see the effects on the child's upbringing and overall perspective in life when they get older... I grew up with a dad in my household that was emotionally and socially unavailable.. he never made an effort to get to know me or my siblings who were in the same household, or give advice or guidance.. so when ppl say "reason why we need fathers", I can't relate... I see the value if the father is doing his job right

The unfortunate part is sometimes you have to lose a good one to realize these things

Single moms and moms in general, with nothing but the best intents, often raise their sons to have feminine senses of the world. Men don't get treated like women, so that prepares them for a world that doesn't exist for the men. Males are needed to raise men, as long as the males are truly men and not just walking around with a sack. I see too many men crumble because they were raised to have a female sense of how the world works and inability to take criticism and truth.
