Stanton’s academic studies began at Capilano College where he studied guitar with Stephen Boswell. He then moved on to the UBC School of Music where he was a teaching assistant for the Guitar Division and completed his Masters of Music degree in Guitar Performance in 2006 after studies with Michael Strutt. He has attended master classes with the world famous virtuoso Pepe Romero, and also William Kanengiser of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

As a soloist, Stanton has performed a wide range of repertoire from the Baroque suites of J.S. Bach and S.L. Weiss, to the folkloric inspired music of Spain, South America and Africa. Highlights include his dynamic performance of the famous Joaquin Rodrigo Concierto de Aranjuez with the UBC Sinfonietta, and the fiery Spanish flavored guitar and choir work, Romancero Gitano by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco performed with the Oratorio Chamber Singers.

Stanton has also enjoyed a successful career as a recording artist. CD releases include, Soul of the Guitar, Stanton C. Jack and Friends, and his most recent recording Caminos, featuring Latin American guitar music from Brazil and Argentina.

Currently Stanton has been performing in many different chamber ensemble settings. This includes the exciting flute and guitar ensemble Duo Trovador. This duo consists of Heather Beaty on flute and Stanton Jack on guitar. Their repertoire ranges from traditional European works of Faure, Debussy, and Saint-Saens, to edgy street tangos of Astor Piazzolla, to beautiful arrangements of traditional Macedonian melodies for guitar and flute. Stanton is also working with the Mangas String Quartet. This collaboration has recently performed Luigi Boccherini’s String Quintet No.4, and will be performing Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Quintet Op.143 for the Fall of 2015. Stanton has also joined Vancouver’s professional Art-Song group, Erato Ensemble. This will be an exciting musical experience with the guitar featured in many different ensemble settings.

Stanton is also keeping quite busy as an educator, teaching at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the VSO School of Music, and as an adjudicator for the UBC School of Music.
