One time at the airport in Taiwan, there was a French couple in front of me, trying to communicate in English with the ticketing agent. The agent, a Chinese woman, spoke English fairly well, but the couple--not so good. Me, a native anglophone, could understand them all, but they couldn't seem to understand each other. So I had to translate a little for them, using a little bit of "Frenglish"

It’s interesting to me how common people lived back them, my family were originally farmers from Devon who moved to London in 1810. Imagine moving from one end of the country to the other by horse.

Back then, money was a commodity, gold, silver, not something you could print. Once fiat money was introduced, it made no more sense to say 'The Government ran out of money'.

Still gonna recommend some history matters or extra credits. Sure, not as funny as oversimplified, but they actually get into obscure history while oversimplified does the big stories which everyone knows
