Easy Mochi Recipe w/ Strawberry Green Tea Filling
Показать описание
Green tea mochi - no food coloring added for this one! Matcha green tea powder is kind of expensive so I didn’t use that much... but if you want a stronger matcha taste, just add more to the dough & cream filling!

Tips for success:
▪️always cover mochi dough when not in use because it will dry out very fast & will be more difficult to roll and shape into balls
▪️it’s easier to use a cold, metal bowl when whipping cream but it’s not necessary. Start out slowly whipping so it doesn’t clump up. You can do this manually or make it easier with an electric whisk
▪️ I use plastic wrap to help me shape mochi, but again it’s not necessary. I also put the shaped mochi into the fridge so it can firm up and hold its shape... but this is purely for decorative purposes. You can just eat it right away no problem! I just like my foods to be pretty :) Lmk if you have any other questions!
Ingredients and process:
▪️gently heat 1/2 cup milk with 1/3 cup cane sugar
▪️add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for flavor (optional, but tastes good)
▪️2 tsp coconut oil to keep in moisture and to make sure it doesn’t flake onto the pot when cooking
▪️1/2 cup Mochiko sweet rice flour and 1/4 tsp matcha gradually added in ▪️when smooth, increase heat to medium and cook for up to 5 mins. Taste test it! It should be smooth and chewy.
▪️make the filling! 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream with 1/4 tsp matcha powder and 2 tbsp powdered sugar
▪️gently fold in 1 diced large strawberry
▪️taking your cooled dough rounds, add in the cream (but don’t overflow it!) ▪️pinch the ends together and dab with water if needed for stickiness ▪️shape with plastic wrap and let it take shape in the fridge for about half an hour or so until firm
It’s ready to enjoy right away! Have fun making these :)
